UPDATE for 2.6 included

What does this mod do ? I explain it with a little example.

When a magic or rare item drops, its mods get randomly chosen from a list of PREFIX and SUFIX magic enchanments.
All enchantments need a minimum lvl ( item) to be possible to roll in vanilla. like that:

Min LVL   EFFECT
Jagged110-20% ED
Deadly 520-30% ED
Vicious830-40% ED
........... and so on

So a LVL 2 Weapon can only roll Jagged
but a LVL 9 Weapon can either roll Jagged, Deadly or Vicious (but only one of those).

ALL the mod changes is, that now every Effect has a MAX LVL, once (and only if) it gets replaced by a stronger possible enchantment.
It looks like that:

Min LVL  Max LVL EFFECT
Jagged1510-20% ED
Deadly 5820-30% ED
Vicious8  30-40% ED
........... and so on

So a LVL 2 Weapon can only roll Jagged
and a LVL 9 Weapon can only roll Vicious

Vanilla: you need luck for: correct property to roll, high tier to roll, high score on each tier to roll.
with this mod you need still: correct property to roll, high tier to roll, high score on each tier to roll.  so less chance needed to roll truly
epic stuff. it makes quite a difference, yet identifing an item is still exciting since it can be pure garbage or an uber item.

Whats the effect in Gameplay?
You get still the random drops like in Vanilla D2R
All items that drop are absolutely possible to drop in Vanilla D2R the same way.
BUT the enchantment strength  of you drops will correspond to the lvl of area/monster you get it from.

Can i still get like lower level enchantments on my items once i am lvl 90+ ?
Of course. This mod has nothing to do with your level. But you need to go to a lower level area (like normal difficulty) to get Blue/rare items with weak enchants. If you play in hell, the enchantments are corresponding to high level and endgame.

Can i stll roll absolutely crap items?
Oh for sure. its D2R, there will be still the normal randomness and absolute charsi food trash items you love. but your chances of rolling something epic are much higher with this mod.


ok, final question: WHY???
Well, do you like to play single player but are missing the easy acess to trade items like in bnet?
You are frustrated, that maybe your grand grand son will finally find that epic rare ring you need for your build?
But on the other hand, you do like the feeling of "pride and accomplishment" D2R gives you 4 real due to its randomness and chance? So a perfect roll mod for magic and rare is overkill and feels like cheating?
Here you go. This mod is for you. Cool drops, still random, but more balanced for singel player.


Installation:
1. unpack zip
2. put the folder "smartdrops" with everything inside in your mods folder
3. if you dont have a mods folder: create a folder with the name "mods" inside your D2R directory - thats where the D2R.exe is.
4. Start blizzard launcher.
5. click on options (cog symbol) next to big play button on the lower left corner of D2R launcher page.
5.  go to: game settings - check additional command line arguments
6. type in:  -mod smartdrops -txt
7. done

This is only for SP. It will not work online.
