About this mod
There are "natural" quarries in the game, called the Rough Soil biome filled with rocky dirt, where you commonly see copper and tin spawning after sleeping. (Iron and opal can spawn too, but rarely.) This is a helper mod that makes sure those areas have as high of a chance to spawn ore as possible.

Natural quarries require three things: The "rough soil" biome which you can see on your map if you scroll around, hard rocky dirt (there are two types; the softer type is found near water), and open space. Every tile in the game that meets these conditions can spawn new tin, copper, iron (rarely), or opal (very rarely) every time you sleep. (The odds increase with higher mining license levels.)
This mod will "clean up" a Rough Soil quarry, to make sure all of it is covered in the correct type of rocky dirt, and it will put tall yellow markers on all of the "stuff" in the area (including buried treasure) that needs to be cleared. It will tell you the percentage of the area which is eligible for ore spawn the next time you sleep.
Rocks need empty space to spawn in: Not just a spot for the ore, but the four adjacent spots must also be empty. For this reason, the mod extends the rocky dirt outward by one tile, so that you know very easily and clearly that "if it's rocky dirt, it needs to be empty". You can then (if you want) surround the rocky dirt with paths to clearly delineate the area and also make it show clearly on the map.
Buried treasure will also block ore spawns. This mod will place markers inside the quarry where buried treasure is located, so you know to dig there. (IMPORTANT NOTE: Every time you break a block with a tool, such as mining ore, there is a chance that buried treasure will immediately spawn in that spot. This mod will tell you it is there, or you can remember to always bring your metal detector which you need to use AFTER digging everything up.)
If you dig in the quarry, such as to unearth buried treasure, it will mess up the dirt. You can either use this mod again and it will fix the dirt, or you can use another of my mods called "Dig Up Treasure Automatically" which will bring up the treasure but not mess up the dirt.
The height of the ground does not affect whether or not ore will spawn on it, so the area does not have to be level, but this mod makes it easy if you want to level it: Use the mod to see all the places you need to level, do the levelling, then use the mod again to fix the dirt.
If you use the auto-dig mod to help with bringing up treasure, and you mine everything that spawns, then you don't need to keep using this mod every time: If you don't dig in the rocky dirt it will stay and you can always see which area the natural quarry occupies.
To use the mod, you need any normal pickaxe (basic, copper, or iron) and a termite nest. Hold the pickaxe in your FIRST (LEFTMOST) hotbar slot, then hold the termite nest in any other slot. Use the termite nest on a tile that is within a "rough soil" biome, and all of the dirt will change to the correct hard rocky dirt, all paths covering the quarry dirt will pop off onto the ground, and tall yellow markers will appear.
Every tall yellow marker means something needs to be cleared from the ground (such as grass, a rock, or a tree). If a marker appears to point to nothing, that is buried treasure. If you break something on a tile and the yellow marker stays, that means a buried treasure just spawned in that spot. If you decide to not clear the area, the yellow markers will disappear if you walk away from the area.
If you try to activate the mod when you are not inside a rocky soil biome, it will put a pin on your map to guide you to the nearest one, in case you are not familiar with them and aren't sure what you're looking for.
You can enable/disable the mod with a setting in the config file, but the mod is also safe to remove at any time because it does not affect your save file in any way.
This is a standard BepInEx 6 mod, so follow the standard Dinkum modding instructions and put the DLL file in your plugins folder. To create the config file, open Dinkum and immediately close it again.
