About this mod
Remember the updated portraits? Yeah me neither. It's scrapped for god knows why (mostly due community backlash) and ZA/UM never even tried to fix addressed issues. Instead, they cut the whole thing. For me; new portraits were definitely better but missing some elements that doesn't go well with the art style. So I made it.
- Permissions and credits
Simply copy and paste the folder in the zip to your main Disco Elysium install folder.
Uninstall by removing the .backup from the portraits_assets_all_20cb6ebb4142293ab462ee211f2e2afc.bundle.backup file.
Made using the GOG version, but should work on the Steam version as well. Probably works on all patches but I haven't checked.
LIST OF ALL CHANGES
• I kept the grunge black backgrounds from vanilla on every portrait.
• Adjusted the colours of Intellect and Psyche skills, based on their text colours.
• Increased the vibrancy and saturation to match the portraits with the rest of the game.
• LOGIC, ENCYCLOPEDIA, DRAMA, CONCEPTUALIZATION, VISUAL CALCULUS is mostly the same.
• RHETORIC have new and detailed hands.
• VOLITION have new background and gradient colouring.
• INLAND EMPIRE have more colours and new background.
• EMPATHY's smoke is coloured like Final Cut, but in Vanilla style. Also added new glowing eyes, it suits better in terms of contrast.
• AUTHORITY have more colours.
• ESPRIT DE CORPS have Final Cut styled textures, but with Vanilla brightness and exposure. Also tweaked the shadows slightly.
• SUGGESTION have Final Cut styled details with small blend of vanilla.
• ENDURANCE and PAIN THRESHOLD have new reflective light on muscles, but I kept the Vanilla brightness levels.
• PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT have their new cyan coloured tint around it. It just looks beautiful.
• ELECTROCHEMISTRY have their vanilla shape with white coloured electric effect and lilac tint.
• SHIVERS have more connections but in vanilla style, I didn't liked the straight lines.
• HALF LIGHT have new face details, recreated in vanilla style. Also kept the Final Cut's tint effects.
• HAND/EYE COORDINATION have eye detail, recreated in vanilla style. Also kept the gradient effect in a subtle way.
• Both PERCEPTION portraits blended to create more smoke effects. They are in vanilla style, not straight looking.
• REACTION SPEED's new red eyes are now in vanilla style. Also kept the shadow effects of Final Cut's take.
• SAVOIR FAIRE have red glow and gradient in it's body.
• INTERFACING is identical to vanilla with small glow. I even kept the 6 fingers!
• COMPOSURE have red glow beneath it's face.
