As of the Lucky Dragon Update. Written on 7/10/2024.
As of this moment in time, the mod still works. I am using it as we speak. There are some things to note, here:
MelonLoader no longer works.
You will need a very specific version of BepInEx.
The config file for BepInEx will need to be changed to allow the mod to work, as well as for game stability.
You will still need to go into the mod's created config file in order to actually change the refresh rate. I have mine refreshing once every hour, which is the fastest you can get.
I'll now go through an in-depth guide on how to install and use this mod, with pre-emptive troubleshooting to ensure you avoid the common problems below. Here's how:
IF YOU HAVE MELONLOADER INSTALLED
You will need to do a complete uninstall of MelonLoader in order for the game to play and your mods to work. There is a manual uninstall--easier than the automated--and an automated. The automated instructions are on the link to the instructions. If I was you, I'd do a manual full uninstall, as it requires you to just simply click and delete files rather than going into the program and trying to zip/navigate to the uninstall section itself. As per the uninstall instructions here, in order to uninstall ML, you'll have to go through the following steps:
Make sure the Game is Closed and Not Running before attempting to UN-INSTALL.
Remove the version.dll & dobby.dll files from the Game's Installation Folder. (Go to Steam, find your game in your library and right click it, Manage->Browse local files.)
Remove the MelonLoader folder from the Game's Installation Folder.
Remove the Plugins folder from the Game's Installation Folder.
Remove the Mods folder from the Game's Installation Folder.
Remove the UserData folder from the Game's Installation Folder.
Congrats, you've cleaned your game of ML and are ready to install BepInEx instead!
IF YOU USE BEPINEX, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK
Then your version of BepInEx is not currently compatible with this version of the game. YOU WILL NEED TO UNINSTALL IT FROM DREAMLIGHT VALLEY COMPLETELY. Sucks, I know. But in order to get a working version installed, you need a fresh install. If you have an older version/your current version is not working correctly, please do the following to uninstall it:
Go to Steam, find your game in your library and right click it, Manage->Browse local files.
PLEASE NOTE:You may not have all the files listed. I have included the older files from previous versions, and new files from the current version, to cover all our bases. Just delete the files listed here that you can find in your game installation folder, and you'll be fine. When in doubt, just delete all the files in your game installation folder--NOT the folders aside from the BepInEx folder inside it--and then verify your game file integrity via the options on steam. (Find the game->Right click->Properties->Installed files->verify integrity of game files.) Now that you've uninstalled BepInEx completely and have a fresh, clean game installation folder, let's move on to installing the proper version of BepInEx. If you don't use a specific version of BepInEx, when you start the game, it will not create the necessary files or folders required for this mod to work.
Make sure you save it somewhere you will remember, but do not put the .zip into your game installation folder. You will need to extract it first.
Extract the .zip into your game installation folder. If you know how to navigate to this folder, great! If you don't, here's an easy way to find where it's located:
+ Go to Steam, find your game in your library and right click it, Manage->Browse local files. Go to the top and find the address. It's the bar at the top that says Steam>SteamApps>(...). Click that bar. + Copy the address to your clipboard. It should look something like (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Disney Dreamlight Valley). However, everyone installs their games in different places. Your address may look different than this. + Once you have this copied, paste this address into your .zip extractor as the location you want the files to be extracted.
Once you have BepInEx installed with DDLV, open the game once and let it run. It may come up with a few chain loader errors. This is to be expected, because we haven't adjusted the settings yet. Ignore this string of errors.
Once the game has fully loaded, it should have two windows active and associated with it. BepInEx and the actual game itself. Close out of the game completely.
INSTALLING THIS MOD AND GETTING IT WORKING
Now that you have opened and closed the game, several new files and folders should have been created inside the BepInEx folder.
Navigate to your game installation location, and go to BepInEx->Config->BepInEx.cfg.
Open the BepInEx.cfg in your preferred notepad/code editor. I recommend Notepad++.
Scroll down to [Logging] and set UnityLogListening from true to false. (As mentioned by Nyllil below. TYSM, Ny!) Do not skip this step. People who skip this step will experience game crashes, and the Scrooge Mod will not create a config file. Meaning the mod will not install properly to begin with. Save the adjusted file and exit.
Download the Scrooge Shop Extra Refresh mod, if you haven't already.
Extract the mod into your Plugins folder. BepInEx->Plugins.
Run the game once. Let BepInEx load the mod, then once you're inside the game, exit and close the game completely.
Navigate back to your game installation folder. BepInEx->Config->averaqedev.ScroogeShopExtraRefresh.cfg. Open this config file in your preferred editor. I recommend Notepad++.
Change the refresh value from 12hrs to anything you want, with 1 being the fastest value, in: Refresh Frequency Hours = 12
I have mine changed from 12 to 1. That makes it refresh once every hour, on the hour.
Save your changes and exit out of your preferred editor. Launch the game. The mod, if you have followed this guide to the letter, should now be installed and working.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you're having trouble with the mod, please go back through this guide and make sure you've followed all the steps listed in the relevant areas required. You may have accidentally skipped a step. If your mods are still not working, check your mod list--some haven't been updated in years and no longer work at all. I may or may not be able to respond to questions if you reply to me here, but if someone asks a question and you know how to answer it, please feel free to do so! Thanks for reading through my guide; it took me a while to figure out what was wrong and how to piece it together to get it to work again. Special thanks to all the contributors below in creating this solution.
I hope this helps, good luck, and happy playing! :)
No config file is created. I tried everything, exactly according to the instructions. I also completely reinstalled the game. A config was created for the multiplier mod and the mod works. But unfortunately that doesn't work here.
/edit: I've now managed to activate it. Let's see if it works then :D
what if you have the xbox pc player for DDLV, what folder would that be? mine is in xbox games>Disneydreamlightvalley>content do i extract it to the dreamlight valley folder or do i go deeper and extract it to content or ddv_data?
Bepinex stopped working for me. Did a clean game folder reset and reinstalled it but it didn't fix the issue. Windows 10, no other mods at this time. I do use the Dreamlight Trainer program that worked alongside the mod this entire time. Thinking it may be an update interference somewhere?
I've installed the latest version as it's gotten me closer than the linked version of bepinex. When i instlled the linked version the game wouldn't open past the very first logo screen before force closing. Now with the Unity.IL2CPP-win-x64-6.0.0-be.729+35f6b1b version it loads more loading screens but wont get past the final black with the small saving/loading star in the bottom right corner and it doesnt show any red text or errors. This is my very first time installing the game so i don't have any mods. I see a config file in bepinex but can't load in. Any suggest?
I tried opening in regular notepad- it's garbled. I downloaded Notepad ++ -it's garbled. I searched the text just to be sure, but can't find an = or a 12 so I need help getting the mod language to be readable. :( This is what I see now using resource hacker:
I figured it out. You need to edit the config file that is generated in the same folder as the config file for bepinex
If it helps anyone else, you need to open the zip in your zip opener (I use NanaZip) and copy all those files into the DDLV exe folder. Then run the game. The extra folder was throwing me off for far too long lol
Update i asked the creator to reupload it! Does anyone have the FastFisher mod file from nexus that they could share? i accidently deleted mine and it has been removed from nexus!
Wondering if the mod creators are still active and have any plans to update since the Storybook Vale update now that the holiday is over. The Bepinex version works with the Base game Scrooge shop in the Valley. Eternity Isle and Storybook Vale shops are tied together in terms of inventory as to what can show in those shops it seems.
The Scrooge Shop Extra Refresh mod broke today after updating to the Storybook Vale. Has anyone else experienced this? Could the update have overwritten the mod and it needs reinstalled?
The refresh still works for me on the base game shop but the DLC shops don't refresh. The shops have separate stock/inventory now so that's probably the issue.
Did you reinstall the mod? Myself and two friends haven't reinstalled the mod, and the black box that normally pops up for the refresh, for the mod, doesn't pop up anymore. That's what made me think the update today "overwrote" the mod and it would need reinstalled.
I haven't reinstalled it, it's been installed for months. I've never had a black box pop up when it refreshes, I just check the shop when the new hour starts. If you have it set to refresh every hour then check the base game store after an hour and see if it's refreshed.
Commenting under here instead of making a new post! It seems like now that the shops aren't tied together, the mod only is changing the Main Valley Shop (Bepinex). They may have to add in lines for Rift in Time and Storybook Vale Shops as separate.
Mine is broken too.....none of them refresh. I have it set at 1 hr. It isnt loading for some reason. See in the attached text from my startup file how the other mods load and extra refresh doesnt.
Does this work with the new update? Ive just tried to follow all the steps and I cant seem to get it to work and wondered if I was doing something wrong or the update is the reason. This is the first time downloading this so Im not sure if the error is my end.
It should still work, though I think the mod is screwing with the recent new feature "Recommended" in the Premium Shop, where it doesn't refresh every week.

It should be noted, this seems to only work with the valley shop, not any of the expansions' shops.
