UPDATE:
I've provided a download for an image only version.
Install:
Choose the version you want and place it in your mods folder.
Music in preview is from my tension music pack
How to modify:
I recommend using an mp4.
Go into the "custommovies" folder and replace those files with another 2 that have the same file name!
Alternatively, to change the file name to the one you want to use, you can open up the "menus.xml" within the GUI folder, search for "mp4" and rename the files to the ones you want.
Note:
You may find that some videos don't work well with the colours, so I've provided two xmls you can use as an alternative (the custom use only download).
You'll need to open it up and search for "changemyname.mp4" to the correct file name.
Warning:
Try to stick with 1920x1080p as otherwise you may get some strange results.
If so, you can change the positioning and the size within the xml.
I've provided 2 preset files for this, so you can see how it works.
Static (uses original menu colours):
Uses an animated version of the original background menu. I added a moving fog, helicopters, fire and smoke. This is more subtle than the below.
Dynamic (uses light menu colours):
I used an AI to upscale the footage that's on the tabs of the mission select screen and created a background with it.
What if I just want to use an image?
Download the image only version and do the following:
How to replace image:
1: Duplicate and rename your image files to:
main_menu_bg
main_menu_bg_blurred
You can use https://www.photopea.com/ to quickly create a blurred version if you want... although I haven't found
the purpose of a blurred version yet...
Make a note of your file name extensions (jpg, jpeg, png, dds etc. you'll need this for the final step)
2: Now go to textures > gui
3: Replace the images in there with the ones you want.
4: Go back to the mod's main folder, where the mod.xml is
5: Go into gui and open menus.xml
Search (ctrl+f): main_menu_bg_blurred.jpg
Replace "jpg" with your extension. e.g. if your new file is a png then rename to "main_menu_bg_blurred.png"
Search (ctrl+f): main_menu_bg.jpg
Do the same as above
Now save and fire up your game.
MY TEXT IS TOO DARK!!!:
If your UI is unreadable because of the BG image, use the light version instead. Instructions are the same.
