just adding here that this solution works so I am going to repost it. I started playing Dragon Age Origins recently. I am using DAO Mod Manager to do DAZip and Ovveride Creator Install as of June 18 2025. credit to Charby12243
How I use DAO Mod Manager 1: Download No helmet Hack Origins and Awakening DAzip. I install both Origin and AWkening No helmet Hack DAZIP normally FIRST. This installs in your /document/bioware/Dragon Age/addins folder and also core>data folder, NOT OVERRIDE folder or the DAO Mod Manager folder. 2: Download the Dex Light Armor Mod override. I Install Dex Light Armor Mod by creating an Override Packet and named as is or something you can remember. You can also manually place it in the /document/bioware/Dragon Age/packages/core/override . Just name a folder something you can remember. 3: In the Optional Files section of No Helmet Hack, download the Light Armor uses Dex Compatibility. It is a GDA file and we need it to be created as an override file. IDK why. I install by creating an Override Packet and named as something you can remember.
I tried these steps but it didn't work; I still get that incompatibility pop up that complains about a conflicting BITM_* override file.
In step 3 what do you mean by "we need it to be created as an override file"? I just copied the "BITM_NoHelmetHack_LightDex.GDA" to the packages/core/override folder.
Hi @chrono731, uninstall the mods and start over from step 1. please.
Once you get to step 3, I used the DAO Mod Manager. There are tutorial that shows how you can turn a mod in an override file. The DAO Mod Manager has a button that allows you to create override packets or folders so that you can track it and so that you don't have to drag it manually into the override folder. Then you name it into something so you know whats in that packet. Do not drag the "BITM_NoHelmetHack_LightDex.GDA" into the override folder.
Reeeally wish that in the description it would give you a warning that this mod doesn't work nice with DLC's since my equipment just disappeared and now I can't get it again which means I lost my item set bonus so thanks for that.
it's generally highly recommended to do a save backup before installing any new mod anyway, don't be rude to the creator for not perfectly keeping up with the compatibilities of a mod that's literally 14 years old
As of today's date there still doesn't seem to be a fix for people wanting to use both this Hide Helmet mod and Dex Instead of Strength for light armors mod.
Despite the patch mod and the master override mod being installed and enabled correctly, it seems to do little for the light armor helmets but works fine for basically every other helmet. This means I have to resort to just not wearing a helmet for my main character, who uses light armor, while the rest of my crew can hide their helmets just fine.
Still, any fix to this would be more than welcome. Cheers!
Beware while using this mod and I would advice the people who have the Ultimate edition from steam to not use this mod as it causes a lot of bugs especially in area transitions. I'm using a quite a lot of mods and while trying to find the real culprit behind the bugs found this mod to be the one doing it. After I removed this mod the bugs stopped.. Many people below are sayin this one works for them, but keep in mind that they might not be using the steam Ultimate edition..
I've been having crashes during area transitions with this mod, as well. It's not very consistent so I can't tell what exactly about this mod triggers the crashing, but I have figured out that if you enable helmets to show with the book before transitioning, the crash doesn't seem to happen. I'm not very far in my playthrough currently, however, so I'll have to wait and see if this holds through for the entire game.
I installed this just now and had major issues on loading the game. Selecting "resume" or "load game" starts the loading process but once you'd actually enter the game it would crash to desktop. Only other mods I have (had them prior to downloading this one) are the Add item improved 1.1, Add item with material improved 1.1, and Dain's. I tried adding the optional Light Armor uses Dex Compatibility mod to see if that would "fix" the issue of this once causing the game to crash to desktop but all that did was allow the game to run without actually "hiding" the helms. The game ran but everyone had helms back on. I've since uninstalled both this and Light Armor uses Dex Compatibility and the game works fine again.
Ugh.. I just installed the 1.6 Origins and 1.5 Awakening and now my game crashes in the same exact manner. How exactly did you uninstall this mod? I tried deleting files, but it's also embeded into the addin.xml file.
UPDATE: I successfully uninstalled it with DAO Modmanager, but had to "Load Game" from a previous save. Luckily for me the older save was only a couple minutes earlier in game. phew
For all of us still playing this great game in 2024 ... I just realized that his mod is not compatible with HipHold (https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/507).

Pictures showing working mod for those that need proof ;)
Remove the folder before going into Awakening. Better save than sorry I always say.
Kudos !
