I installed this just now and had major issues on loading the game. Selecting "resume" or "load game" starts the loading process but once you'd actually enter the game it would crash to desktop. Only other mods I have (had them prior to downloading this one) are the Add item improved 1.1, Add item with material improved 1.1, and Dain's. I tried adding the optional Light Armor uses Dex Compatibility mod to see if that would "fix" the issue of this once causing the game to crash to desktop but all that did was allow the game to run without actually "hiding" the helms. The game ran but everyone had helms back on. I've since uninstalled both this and Light Armor uses Dex Compatibility and the game works fine again.
For all of us still playing this great game in 2024 ... I just realized that his mod is not compatible with HipHold (https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/507).
As of today's date there still doesn't seem to be a fix for people wanting to use both this Hide Helmet mod and Dex Instead of Strength for light armors mod.
Despite the patch mod and the master override mod being installed and enabled correctly, it seems to do little for the light armor helmets but works fine for basically every other helmet. This means I have to resort to just not wearing a helmet for my main character, who uses light armor, while the rest of my crew can hide their helmets just fine.
Still, any fix to this would be more than welcome. Cheers!
Do anyone know why i cant wear the Blood Dragon Plate Helmet? it failing all the times i try. It says that "the no helmet hack failed to hide the helmet" and more stuff.
Beware while using this mod and I would advice the people who have the Ultimate edition from steam to not use this mod as it causes a lot of bugs especially in area transitions. I'm using a quite a lot of mods and while trying to find the real culprit behind the bugs found this mod to be the one doing it. After I removed this mod the bugs stopped.. Many people below are sayin this one works for them, but keep in mind that they might not be using the steam Ultimate edition..
Did you realize it is an item in your inventory you have to use to toggle the helmet on and off. I didn't at first and thought the mod wasn't working. It was, I just wasn't using it correctly. I have only tried the main campaign and not any of the expansions or DLC though.
I have no usable items in my inventory to make this mod work. DA Mod Manager install doesn't function on Ultimate Edition. If there were a manual install, I would try that, but I don't see one.
It normal that the item doesn't appear in the inventory the first time you load a save or start a new game with this mod installed, you have to quicksave once in the game and reload, the item should appear then
An excellent find Esh! It helped me to take it a step further. *Also awakening's original extended UID is: DAO_PRC_EP_1*
If you don't want to manually change them over and over, you can copy and paste the whole section of the No Awakening Helmet Hack in Addins four more times (or 3 if you don't use tale of orzammar) (Make sure to include there is 1 </AddInItem> before and after each section). Then, once you do that copy paste thing, change the extended UID of the first one to DAO_PRC_GIB, the second one to DAO_PRC_STR, the third DAO_PRC_LEL, and the fourth (if you use tale of orz) to PC_GAMER_TALE.
And voila! No more need to keep going back in and changing. Just tested again to be safe and each one works perfectly independently.
Piggybacking off of this, my addins file only had "DAO_PRC_EP_1" next to ExtendedModuleUID which is for Awakenings and this mod would not work in the base Origins game.
I did as someone suggested and copy/pasted the code an additional 4 times and changed each one of them to the code needed for each part of the game. Note that you have to copy the entirety of the code, which starts at </hu-hu> before the AddInItem code lines and ends after the last bit of code that says <![CDATA[Yonline]]>. You could possibly shorten it, but I tried just the part with AddInItem and got error messages when trying to load. Now it loads in just fine and the item finally appeared in my inventory.
Origins base game: ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Awakening: ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_EP_1" Golems of Amgarrak: ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_GIB" Witch Hunt: ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_STR" Leliana's Song: ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_LEL"

This has to many issues .
Then make sure in the game itself under DLC that it is -Enabled-
Thanks in advance
Go to: Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings
Edit addins.xml, find No Helmet Hack AW and change ExtendedModuleUID from DAO_PRC_GIB to:
When playing Golems of Amgarrak: DAO_PRC_GIB
When playing Witch Hunt: DAO_PRC_STR
just do it before each campaign.
you can also use this method for every other mod, just tested this with golden egg mod and others.
