Dragon Age Flicker Removal
By request, removal of potentially migraine- or seizure-inducing flashing effects from the game.
No archdemon death flicker
- Turns off the bright yellow strobe lighting throughout the scene as well as the flickery overlay animations.
No archdemon dreams
- Replaces the flashing/pulsing archdemon dreams with a blank movie file. In my limited testing the game appeared to freeze on a still image while the audio played, before resuming the cutscene.
No fire air distortion (updated in 1.7)
- Removes the animated distortion filter around large fires.
No screen shake
- Disables all scripted screen shake effects such as when standing within an earthquake spell, on the bridge during the prologue, and during the broodmother fight.
Reduced fire effects
- Removes textures from most fires and fire spells globally. Has no effect on lighting cast on the environment and nearby characters (For that see: Static lighting).
Static lighting (updated in 1.7)
- Firelight sources (campfires, torches, etc.) will shed a constant light on the surrounding ground, walls, and nearby characters, rather than flickering light.
- Included: All base campaign areas and DLC areas accessible from base campaign (Return to Ostagar, Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep)
- Formerly: No environmental light flicker
Un/Installation
- Files go in [Documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override. Can be installed at any time. Delete to uninstall.
Recommended mods
- Clear Dreams - no blur in the Fade by Ashhawk, to remove the animated distortion filter from the edges of the screen in the Fade
