The conversation following this sticky post got rather long and didn't really provide much additional information, so I've unstuck it and reposted the following which is what folks need to know regarding the last hotfix:
GL3611: A rare bug has been reported a few times that I have never been able to duplicate, wherein certain quests - Skin Deep, Dereliction of Duty and the Scrolls of Banastor - would inexplicably stop updating and become unable to be completed. For the record, I don't yet know if this is a vanilla bug or one caused by my Fixpack. User gangbang34 has kindly finally provided me with a save game I could analyze that led me to figure out what has happened and come up with a workaround. What's happening is that somehow, plot item stacks (which all 3 quests use) are somehow having their ITEM_SEND_ACQUIRED_EVENT flag turned off, which stops any new items added to the stack from sending the very necessary events that update the quest. I still don't know how or why those plot item stacks are having that very important flag turned off, though. This fix runs every time you enter a new area, checks your stacks to see if they have been corrupted in this fashion, and fixes them. The fix is retroactive - the moment you load your save game with this fix installed, any quests you had that suffered from this bug will be auto-corrected. I would really much rather be able to fix the problem at its source, though, and find out how the flag is getting turned off. Being that this bug is very rare and I've never managed to duplicate it, in hotfix version 3.52 I am conscripting you all into my debugging army! If your plot item stack is corrupted and the fix is actually applied, you will see the following message float over your character's head when the area finished loading: "Stack of X Fixed! Please report area you last transitioned FROM to Qwinn at Nexusmods!". Sorry for the immersion breakage on that, but whoever reports the last area they were in prior to getting that message that leads me to figuring out where the bug is happening so I can hopefully finally find it and kill it with fire will be immortalized in this Fixpack's readme forever!
hello! I came back to report something that is definetly caused by this compact fix mod. Those dialoge that was effected with this mod was reverted back to english language from hungary for some reason I do not know. It suppose to reapply dialoge options that was prevously was not avaliable is it not? Is there a workaround for this fix or i need to wait for a new update to be fixed? Im useing a DVD installed full hungary version of this game.
i am playing this game currently and got the exactly same issue toward the bug in "Dereliction of Duty". i have got 3 "Guild Supplies" in a stack but the quest has not changed and updated to "return to xxx for reward".
then i download your latest hotfix, the bug is now fixed, the quest auto updated. but i didn't see any floating message, i don't know how to help.
ps. i installed your original fixpack by daupdater so when i was going to install your hotfix i didn't delete anything in package_core_override because there was none of the file you mentioned in your readme in the hotfix file.
btw please consider looking into the "bug" in accessing myaja's chest, the door is not interactable. i didn't even finish the quest "A Lord's Trust: The First Task", i didn't go for "The Proving" before the king is chosen. therefore i cant open that door at all although i have stole the chest key from myaja already.
there is really nothing that can be done as a workaround right? I'm sad :( have modded DAO for a few days now - but overlooked the bug "" Fix pack revert many of the dialog language back to english "".
Yeah SoraBlueWolf7, I know that but I didn't further investigate yet. I'll contact you with a private message.
Also to everybody, please, if you have a question about this "international" patch ask me it in the private message section or in the aforementioned github page
Tried the "international version" by humhue ( https://github.com/humhue/DAOTools/releases/ ) and it works for dialogs minus: - Have to remove all *.fsb and *.fev files from the the sound directory in [...]\qwinn_fixpack_3\core\audio\sound folder - Map / Worldmap will stay in english.
Quests affected by this bug in my playthrough: - Dereliction of Duty - Scrolls of Banastor
Also, not sure if this is related: the Trial of Crows quest bugged out in my playthrough after the final target. I received the reward item, but the quest flags don't update after the conversation with Ignacio - I got the "quest updated" message, but the quest remained in the log (with all targets "ticked" for completion and the description indicating to talk to Ignacio), with Cesar not unlocking is improved stock and the quest giver not leaving. Talking to him again prompts the same conversation all over again. Curiously, killing him seemed to end the quest just fine.
Bug Encountered: Dereliction of Duty not updating bug.
I didn't know where I transitioned from since I've been tossing and turning around Lake Calenhad docks > Frostback Mountain> Denerim run-down back street prior to applying the 3.52 hotfix.
Last and current location was in Denerim run-down back street, exited the game with the quest still not updating, applied the hotfix, loaded the game and checked the quest log, found updated (can already turn-in the quest for reward) but no "Stack of X Fixed!" text.
If it helps, mods installed are: QUDAO Fixpack 3.5. Dain's Fixes Madd Gift Guide ..and some texture mods that I think are irrelevant with this bug.
Reading around online, some people posted this bug is due to auto-loot included in Dain's fixes that is quickly looting the body (?) or something. It kinda checks out because I saw one corpse in the Denerim area (room where I encountered the NPC that is part of the quest) that's already been looted (no shimmer, not clickable) but hasn't decomposed yet. Usually, if you've looted a corpse, they turn into skeletons, this one didn't.
I understand that I am writing very late, but if I delete the audio files, will there be critical errors or will the characters just be silent in new scenes?
Yes, Cysia, there's a way to patch some other things, such as maps. In fact, I planned to update the repository, which I never ended up doing because I'm not playing the game anymore and I can't test stuff in-game. I'll contact you with a PM to see if you're willing to do some beta testing.
Hey guys, I have a little problem. I installed "Qwinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack v3.52 - International Version", but my Alistair speaks English instead of German all the time. What can you do there?
Can you be more clear? You said 3.51 is required but then your notes says "If you previously installed the hotfix for v3_51, delete the folder you placed then: /Users/YourUserName/Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/packages/core/override/QUDAO Hotfix v3_51
Edit: My mistake, I thought 3.5 and 3.51 were the same thing
i have an issue with the dereliction of duty quest i have all the supplys but the quest wont update and no im not using the auto loot mod can anyone help?
Will this mod break anything on existing saves if we install the mod mid-playthrough? I realize installing the mod probably won't apply fixes to points in the game already past, but will the fixes apply to quests and dialogue not yet reached and will anything break? I read the description and scrolled through pages in comments [Nexus disabled search], but I didn't find any mention of installing for existing playthroughs.
Installing it in the middle of a playthrough isn't suggested. Although the .dlg files take effect immediately, e.g. areas, scripts, stages don't. So, it's best to install it before starting a new campaign. Because things may or not may work otherwise, with a much higher probablity for the latter.
I can confirm the mod is working for me. I installed it a week ago. This mod should work on any version of the game assuming the version is the latest. The main problem is the author has abandoned the mod, so no one will fix any new bugs or bugs this mod introduces.
So I'm trying to instal the mod and I extracted the zip file and the moved the .dazip file into the updater and when it attempted to install it i got an error. Not sure what i'm doing wrong.\
What kind of error did you get? Perhaps the .dazip got corrupted during downloading. It may also be the same error the other players have reported while using the GOG version.
- in unmodded game, once you cure the werewolves by lifting the curse, you have an option to kill them. - once you kill them, finish the quest and reload the game, the loading screen will show a message that you lifted the curse, killed the cured werewolves, and the elves join you.
But the fixpack kills it by not allowing you to kill the cured werewolves. Instead, they flee. I read the fixpack author's notes and I understand the way the author thought, but I believe the fix was wrong. The game itself allows you the option to kill those cured werewolves and the loading screen supports this theory.
I would like to change this "wrong" bugfix back. Is there a way for me to do it without deleting fixpack from my game entirely? Lifting the curse and killing the cured werewolves who attacked and destroyed innocent Dalish children does feel very satisfying to me.
Playing on GOG, and when installing the fix it says that it is installed. When closing the updater it then says that I need a newer version of the game. When I Open the game and check my downloadable content I also cannot see this fix ? Has anybody encountered this ?
Had the same issue, game crashed after attempting to start a new game. It seems the Only solution at the moment is to downgrade to 1.05 (A) through GOG Galaxy
You still have to (SPOILER): "When the Warden says "fine, hand it over" you do not receive the ring. This can be solved by saying "thank you for the gift" (you may have to say everything else available except for refusing the ring)."

Could you release a patched version? Or allow me to do so myself?
