About this mod

Adds beard option for female dwarves and dwarf warden

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Update:
I have made some seperate dwarf beards. All 7 of the default male dwarf beards, plus Oghren's converted for dwarf female, to go in the beard slot.
These will work with any other hairstyle and will show up when you put a helmet on, so I would recommend them over the older version of the mod.
They also work with the texture files from this mod.

Unfortunately things in the beard slot on females don't work with the preset system, so you are going to have to extract your warden's face .mor data and put them on manually.
They can be used with pygff alongside DragonAge Face Replacer. I have created an article tutorial for it.
It's a little more advanced modding but I think it is worth it.

For the experienced modder, if you want to make your character as a mor. (sadly mops don't work with beards) in the Dragon Age Toolset for greater control/ability to combine stubble on them, DAO Toolset Headmorphs Unlocked is a must.

It's a common thing with Tolkein-derivative dwarves that their women have beards, and I've seen some people draw their Aeducan and Brosca with beards too.
So I thought it would be nice to give people some options.
You can put stubble on a female dwarf in the character creator in Inquisition, so this is at least lore friendly adjacent.

To make beards available to females in the character creator and toolset, I have attached them to hairstyles. What you see is what you get. I tried to make some suitable for noble and commoner, plus a couple for different hair textures too. I have also created a stubble option in the form of a tattoo.

Files of this mod include:

1) A set of hairstyles with beards attached.

Plus optional files:

2) Morphs that will put beards onto some assorted female dwarves.

3) Morphs for Brosca's family

4) A facial preset for female dwarf

5) Player only stubble tattoo for use in the character creator.

Need to Read:

Hair with Beards

The game doesn't load hair if you have a hat equipped, so if you put one on your character their beard will disappear too. I would consider the No Helmet Hack mod essential.
For best results, make your mouth and lower face as average as possible. The game will automatically set parts of a male character's face to average values if a beard is added in the character creator, but obviously won't do that for you here. Start with the last facial preset in the list, or the one I have put in the optional files.
Because of a variety of technical reasons, the way these move on the face will not be quite as nice as the male ones, athough it's as good as I can reasonably make it. I don't think it's a noticable problem on a player character since the warden doesn't talk in cutscenes.
It has not been tested in a full playthough, so it's possible the beards might do something unexpected when put through a late game cutscene animation for the Warden. If it does I'd appreciate knowing, but there's likely nothing I can do about it. Make sure you're fine with all of that before downloading.

Dwarf Morphs
The morphs replace some background characters in Orzammar, plus a few named ones. I haven't changed iconic characters like Branka or Dagna.
I have mostly left the surface dwarves alone, since beards seem more of a Dwarven homeland cultural thing.

Brosca family morphs
There are 3 sets of morphs for Rica and Kalah (Brosca's mother) for different race wardens in case you wanted to match them. I also included the source files so you can make your own.

Stubble tattoo
These tattoos will overwrite Aeducan and Brosca unique tattoos. (uh_pct_dc1_0t and uh_pct_dn1_0t) Those tattoos are probably player-specific as they lack the correct naming to show up in the toolset, although it's possible someone's overhaul mod might have put them on a different character.
With the Brosca one, you will get a multicolour tattoo if you pick a stubble colour other than black or brown. That might be a feature instead of a bug depending on how flashy you like your dwarves.

If you want greater control over your character I would recommend making them in the toolset instead, as it is possible to apply stubble alongside any tattoo to a character with that. I just made this for convenience so it would show up in the character creator.
