A simple fix to automatically set CPU affinity and prevent crashes caused by extra cores.
- Permissions and credits
This simple file will automatically set CPU affinity when launching daorigins.exe (and other games if you edit target exe in the .bat in notepad) to 8 cores eliminating the random crashing caused by CPUs with lots of cores.
To install (all versions except Steam)
Extract the zip into your installation directory:
WHEREEVER YOUR INSTALLATION IS LOCATED\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship
Make sure file extensions are showing in explorer and then change the file extension from .txt to .bat (also appreciate the complex command first..)
Launch using .bat file
INSTRUCTIONS FOR STEAM
Make sure you download the Steam launcher version
Extract and place the file in your root install directory:
WHEREEVER YOUR INSTALLATION IS LOCATED\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition
Make sure file extensions are showing in explorer and then change the file extension from .txt to .bat (also appreciate the complex command first..)
Right click Dragon Age Origins in Steam library and in general under launch options paste this entire command below:
"WHEREEVER YOUR INSTALLATION IS LOCATED\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\launchaffinity_steam.bat" %command%
Now when you launch through Steam it will automatically set your CPU affinity and prevent crashes :)
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOD ORGANIZER 2
Click modify executables and under Dragon Age Origins simply target launchaffinity.bat instead
IMPORTANT NOTE:
To make the game stable make sure your daorigins.exe and daoriginslauncher.exe are patched using the ntcore 4gb patch:
4GB Patch – NTCore
