So the 4th and the 5th animations in the ranged staff attack sequence are a little silly. Enough to really annoy and distract me. Something had to be done. So I made the 4th attack use the same animation as the 2nd attack, and the 5th attack to use the same animation as the 5th attack in the close range staff attack sequence. And lo! The silliness distracted me no longer. The visual effect of the staff striking the ground in the 5th attack is slightly out of sync, but it doesn't bother me in the least. You'll have to try it for yourself to see if it's acceptable to you.
