I never did find that stupid key :/
I had to set my game resolution on 70% due to lag in the caverns. I normally can play at 80%

    What a coincidence! This happened to me with Niemaris, and it pissed the absolute hell out of me! Remember, I wanted to get all the quests done with her? I went back and investigated the whole cave network looking for it, but couldn't find it. Then when I went back for the Storm Coast dragon later, just on a whim I decided to go through the whole place again. This time, I went through the beginning cave, then through that little stretch of beach before you enter the cave system proper, and there were about two or three keys waiting for me there, on that beach. Can't remember if I neglected that part when I first retraced my steps, but it was there that time. So have you tried there?

    EDIT: Actually, it doesn't involve a quest, does it? I think I was annoyed because I was convinced there was a mosaic behind that door, though it turns out there wasn't

      Yes, a red lyrium deposit needs to be destroyed and I think an Elven artifact is on that side of the broken bridge
