UPDATED - 2/29/16 - New Red-Head Version Added!

NOTE TO ALL:
"Crusader Vanguard" (the Author) and "VirtuousCrusader" (the Uploader) are the same person, as I used a different Username when I created my account for this site. The Author Username is the one I currently use.

Link to my other Slider Mod: "Qunari - Female Adaar Sliders"

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please read entire description - there are now TWO DIFFERENT VARIATIONS of this Lavellan! All images are clearly named for which "version" they are.

See the "5th" required mod of the V2 Sliders to see how to make your Inquisitor's hair a "true" black, instead of the very blue-tinted black in-game. See the bottom of this description for the details of the no Vallaslin trick.

Please don't forget to endorse, especially the mods linked throughout this description; without them, this face wouldn't be here for you guys to enjoy.

All credit goes to these Mod Authors for their beautiful work. I certainly appreciate that they took the time to make/share their mods. The face looks good without these mods, but I believe these mods do wonders for the overall look.

Lavellan V2 - Original Black-Haired Version:

Thanks to Redvyx for pointing out concerns, as it allowed me to find ways to change, and I believe, improve the face.

Important Note: The V1 sliders are an old version. The V2 sliders are updated with improvements that many people, including friends, have told me make the sliders better. So, I would recommend using the V2 sliders for the black-haired version. If you want to use V1, though, be my guest.

To get the full look seen in the screenshots, you require the following mods:

1. Primary: "Long Waves for ALL" by Korikoc (Should work in Trespasser - note which hairstyle it replaces carefully, requires Ultra Mesh Quality Setting)
Alternative: "Waist Long Hair" by Kadust (While I think this is better - and "cleaner" - than even Skaramoosh's version, this one will not work in Trespasser because of the base hairstyle it replaces, so if you prefer, you can use Skaramoosh's "Waist Length Hair" version of this hairstyle inside his "SK Hair Pack" mod, as the hairstyle it replaces will work in Trespasser.)
NOTE: To state again: depending on which "base" hairstyle is replaced, some (if not many) of these hairstyles should function in Trespasser DLC (The "Long Waves" and "Waist Length Hair" should). If you are unsure what "base" hairstyles can be replaced in Trespasser, you can read this Reddit Post about it. Also, depending upon your choices of hairstyles, note very carefully which "base" hairstyle is replaced, as only 1 hairstyle mod per "base" hairstyle is allowed.

2. "Eyebrows 4 Women" by mrjack900 (I chose "unshaved, dark" - use the eyebrow slider to find one of the replaced eyebrows, choosing another if you wish)

3. "Katherine Face Texture" (from Eyebrows 4 Women mod) - NOTE: set "complexion" to 3 for the texture to appear, as seen in the sliders, and I think you can set the "Skin Tone" to any you wish, although it functions and looks best with "Skin Tone" #3. Also, if you install the Katherine Face Texture mod, you will not be able to access the Black Emporium DLC without uninstalling the texture mod first. This has (as of this writing) yet to be solved by the experts.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since altering the spec-map of the face texture causes them to not function in Trespasser, ShepShy's "All About The Face" mod has the closest match I can find to Katherine's Face Texture that should work in Trespasser. You want the "All about the face - Allisa basic face texture - original spec-map" download. I cannot confirm it works in Trespasser (as my Elven campaign isn't currently there yet) but it should work properly.

4. "SK Hair Re-texture" by Skaramoosh (The "Smooth Version V1.2 Light" Download)

5. "Hair Recolor Utility" by LegionoftheLiving - This is how you make the "true black" hair seen in the Version 2 screenshots. Follow the instructions below

Step 1: Follow the instructions found at the mod page for launching it (including alternative methods) and how to avoid the program being identified as spam by your computer's anti-virus software found in the comments of the Utilities mod page.

Step 2: Once you choose a preset face, make sure you ONLY change the hair color of your Inquisitor so the eyebrows will be BLACK (you want to do this before choosing a hair color inside the Utility, as it only changes the hair color, not the eyebrow color), as the Utility is very picky about how much you change before using it!

Step 3: Launch the tool inside the CC (or use an alternative method described in the comments of the Utility's mod page), then select your race/gender, and initialize. Below the large initialize button is a line that says "Face Location" followed by a lot of question marks. After the face is found you will see numbers and letters appear after the face location line.

Step 4: I've been told by Vyron87 there is a "newer" version of the Hair Recolor Utility that actually has "Solid Black" as a menu option. If you can find it in your pop up, scroll down menu, just choose the "solid black" hairstyle. If you CANNOT find a "solid black" listing inside that pop up, scroll down menu: go down to the very bottom of the tool where the "Set Manually" button is. You will see 4 digit spaces for R, G, and B, for RGB color hex values. To make your hair "truly black", set the 3rd digit (which should be currently 3 by default) in each box to 1, then press "Set Manually". This is the most "sure" way to get your hair color a "true" black, and will work whether you can find the "solid black" option in the menu or not.

Step 5: (if change doesn't apply): You should see the difference in your Inquisitor's hair color immediately, otherwise it didn't work, and you need to restart the CC and/or the Utility. If all else fails, try starting the utility before you start the game or at the main menu. It shouldn't take more than 3 attempts to get the hair color you want if you follow the above instructions.

Step 6: After you successfully get the "true black" hair, THEN use the sliders to create your Inquisitor's face.

NOTE ON BLACK HAIR TRICK: The "true black" hair trick, especially coupled with the "smooth hair texture" mod above - I haven't tested it with realistic) is REALLY BLACK. It will stand out. It's not hideous or too much, as it looks really good in many lighting situations, but you will definitively notice how "black" the hair is, and in some darker places it will look like a black "blob" of a model - no texture. So just be warned. But since many people around the DAI community have complained about the black hair being not "truly black" (the blue tint "problem" included), I decided to add this with my no Vallaslin trick. Have fun with it!

IMPORTANT NOTES ON THE SLIDERS:

1. You do not need a specific preset head to use these sliders. You can choose any of the 5, because as you change the sliders to match the images in the download, everything will change anyway, and everything you want to do different from my personal sliders (like skin tone, eye and hair color) you can change once you've copied all my slider positions. You don't need to choose any particular preset head.

2. All "normal sliders" (like the entire "general" segment) are not included as individual images because you can see all of them via imagines of other nearby facial options. Therefore, the entire general section is a single image you can reference for all slider positions, and normal sliders like "Eye Shape" can be easily seen and copied via the "Eye Size" slider image.

3. Makeup is not included with the sliders, because you can change all the settings to match my Lavellan by following these notes:

  • All colors are "black" (including eyelash color)
  • Eyeliner & Eye Shadow at full intensity
  • Under-Brow is "turned off" (no intensity)
  • Lip color and shine are "turned off" (no intensity)
  • Blush options are "turned off" (no intensity)

Lavellen V3 - Red-Head Rogue Version: Thanks to Kadust!

I must give a very special thanks to Kadust, who gave me permission to post her slider variants (she gets credit for this Inquisitor and all images with the vallaslin/scar), the ones she used in her "EF Sidecut Long Hair" mod images (see below).

Important Note: For those of you who want the Vallaslin (tatoo) and/or the scar on the right eyebrow that comes with certain images of this Lavellan inside the image tab instead of the barefaced version, please see the "Important Notes on the Sliders" segment below for details.

To get the full look seen in the screenshots, you require the following mods:

1.  "EF Sidecut Long Hair" by Kadust (The cornerstone of this Lavellan's look, and I believe perfectly suits a red-headed rogue who will not take crap from anyone! Choose either download.)

Note 1: This hairstyle has a custom scalp that Kadust built for the hairstyle, making this mod incompatible with any other mod that has a custom scalp.

Note 2: Unfortunately, since this hairstyle is built from the "Q" base hairstyle, it will NOT work in Trespasser (at least that's what I'm told, you can read this Reddit Post about it). I'm afraid at the moment, I don't have a suitable answer for Trespasser.

2.  "Eyebrows 4 Women" by mrjack900 (I chose "unshaved, dark" - use the eyebrow slider to find the eyebrow type used, but you can choose another.)

3. "Yennefer Complexion" by Ascendia (You want to find the "Yennefer Complexion - black eyeliner - V 0.2" download. You need to set the complexion slider to position 3 from the left to have it appear. If you install this mod, you will not be able to access the Black Emporium DLC without uninstalling the texture mod first. This has (as of this writing) yet to be solved by the experts.)

Important Note: This download doesn't come with a Trespasser compatible version. I would suggest "Ciri No Scars" from the same mod and use it's Trespasser version.

4. "SK Hair Re-texture" by Skaramoosh (The "Smooth Version V1.2 Light" Download)

5. "Vibrant Eyes with Limbal Rings" by deadimage (top download)

IMPORTANT NOTES ON THE SLIDERS:

1. If you want the Vallaslin tattoos and/or the scar that are included in some of the images instead of just the barefaced version, start with "Preset Head 1" and ignore the final two slider screenshots (that allow you to "remove" the Vallaslin) and just alter the color as you wish. As for the scar, slide the scar slider over 2 places. Combine the bareface, scar, and vallaslin options as you like.

2. All "normal sliders" (like the entire "general" segment) are not included as individual images because you can see all of them via images of other nearby facial options. Therefore, the entire general section is a single image you can reference for all slider positions, and normal sliders like "Eye Shape" can be easily seen and copied via the "Eye Size" slider image.

3. While the lip colors are available in the sliders, not all makeup is included with the sliders, because you can change all the other settings to match the V3 Lavellan by following these notes:

  • Follow the 3 Lip Color/Intensity sliders in the V3 sliders download
  • All colors are "black" (including eyelash color - with the exception of the lip color)
  • Eyeliner & Eye Shadow at full intensity
  • Under-Brow is "turned off" (no intensity)
  • Lip shine is "turned off" (no intensity)
  • Blush options are "turned off" (no intensity)

Other Mods Found In Screenshots:

1. "Dalish Armoury - No Chainmail - Fully Tintable" by Shosholada (The "DalishArmoury - EF Keeper Robes Retex V2 - cloth" file) - Sho updated the tinting of the Keeper Robes in the mod, so now the gloves are tintable as a leather. So I (personally) strongly recommend this mod as your means of getting a tintable Dalish Keeper Robe (and Scout Armor if you prefer) as Sho's redesigns both with new, creative changes in design that (I believe) greatly improve the overall quality of the armors. However, if you don't like the new additions and changes Sho makes, you can always go back to the original Keeper Robes using the "Dalish Mage Robe Tweaks" by FFZero565 as your means of tinting it, because this mod does works as well, especially since it works for male and female Elves, although it doesn't include the very nice redesigns of the Keeper Robes from Sho's "Dalish Armoury".

2. "No Sideburns - No Receding Hairline" by vyrelis (This is used in V2 screenshots - seen clearly in the second comparison screenshot - to remove the strange sideburns she has. This mod is listed here because it has it's own issues and doesn't work well with all hairstyles, never mind it changes a lot of hairstyle scalps and NPCs hairs... not all for the better, in my opinion. While it works well here, it is a MINOR FIX and isn't really all that necessary. It doesn't work in all situations for all hairstyles, and "conflicts" with certain popular hairstyle mods, like "EF Sidecut Long Hair" by Kadust (which is the cornerstone of the V3 look) or "Alternative Sidecut" by Lycoteuthis. Choose for yourself if this is needed for your V2, as it is a minor thing.)

3. Primary: "Dark Faye" by ShepShy (For the V2 version of the sliders, you will want to change the skin tone slider from 3 to 2 before using this mod if you are picky about your skin tones matching (otherwise, the 3rd skin tone slider still works), then select the "light2" file from EF Light Versions Download. For the V3 version, you want to take the "Medium" file from the EF light versions download. If you would like to choose a different skin tone than the one specified in the slider images, then please reference the "skin-tone-slider-to-pj" list that ShepShy provided on the Dark Faye description page to find the PJ that will suit your needs.)
Alternative: "Skyhold Outfit Replacement" by endless-laziness (Elven word link, naturally - no longer pictured - choose this one if you prefer, or want a more modest PJ set.)

4. "Opulent Tints" by tirnoney (Used to get the "red/black" Dalish Keeper Robes - coupled with "Dalish Armoury" mod. Tirnoney has updated the mod to allow you to recolor the cloth and leather materials in-game by inputting RGB values, making them whatever color you want. For those of you who want to recolor certain armors/suits, like the formal wear and eventually MP armors, consider tirnoney's "Opulent Wardrobe".)

5. "Iron Lady Leliana" by ArXangel (Seen in V2 Screenshot 5 - Full Scale Red version)

The No Vallaslin (Tattoo) Trick:

As pointed out in the title of the mod, you will note my Lavellan Inquisitor does not have any "Vallaslin" (the tattoos on Elven faces). This is a trick I learned after not finding any Vallaslin options to truly fit well on one of my Elven Inquisitors. I have found the "tattoo" mods available to change them, but for reasons explained below, I often like to have no Vallaslin on my Elven Inquisitors.

Why did I try this? This trick will allow you to keep all your Vallaslin/Tattoo options, all your Vallaslin/Tattoo mods, and still be able to create a "clean" faced Elven character, sacrificing nothing from your Vallaslin/Tattoo sliders. Furthermore, if everyone keeps track of the "actual" Elven history explained throughout the game, like I have, they may want to consider this option for their Elven Inquisitor for that reason alone.

This simple "trick" of removing the Vallaslin (without removing it your one chance inside the game, although "technically" you still could) is accomplished by using the "lightest" variant of any "tattoo" choice and then changing the color to "closely" match the skin color, effectively making the Vallaslin disappear. It's that simple to remove it completely. If you look VERY carefully under certain lighting in-game, you might BARELY make out the Vallaslin, but even that's very hard! This "trick" is shown in the two Vallaslin slider images if you are interested in trying it. Everyone is free to use this trick and explain it... if that's relevant... I still find some of the permissions rules for things like this a little murky.

Some might call this "trick" blasphemy against creating Elven characters, as it certainly gave the Elves something unique in the character creator, but I though I would show how to do this, because I haven't found others who have, for those who are interested.

If you wish to create a Vallaslin for this Inquisitor's face, simply change the two Vallaslin (tattoo) sliders to whatever you like.
