In case you dont know mods made before 2017 steam update and mods made for gog lack some assets in arc files and they might cause issues like crashes or in the worst case save corruption. those mods typically lack zht / Chinese language files amongst other assets. You can find out whether a mod is made for gog or pre-2017 steam version by comparing an asset folder of the modded arc files extracted with arctools made by fluffyquack (linked below) with an asset folder of the original steam arc files with winmerge ( a tool to compare file differences, download on google).
I use a ps4 controller for the game and i tried out a few other ui mods but they are either made before 2017 or just not to my liking. I really liked the mod made by
Besrodio but its made before 2017. After learning a bit about mod merging and winmerge i find out that it is possible to upgrade his mod to be used for modern steam version by just swapping assets in the original steam arc files. And i did just that. it should work with tutorial messages, menus and general UI. Those are general tex replacers and shouldnt affect much and could only cause display bugs if its not working. I dont know if it works with gog version.
I can't guarantee maintenance and bug-patching because i dont have the skill to modify tex files. but i compared the assets with original steam assets and they look like having the same format.
Backup your files. Also if you want to merge mods I included the assets from bestrodio's mod and they can be used to replace assets from the mods you want to merge with. Extract the arc files of the mods you want to merge with by dragging the arc file to the bat file, find the replace in the generated folders all the asset files in the "assets" folder and repack the the folders by dragging it back to the bat file. done.
