About this mod

Extends the campaign in a loop, while difficulty keeps rising. Can you make it to mission 589?

Permissions and credits
This project is still in alpha, so feedback is welcome: when does the difficulty actually become impossible for you?
Warning: multiplayer is only possible between players who have the mod. Connecting to vanilla players will freeze the game.

Gate of Steiner is an original take on difficulty mods: it extends the campaign after its conclusion, looping the missions all over for a total of 589 missions. All the while rising the difficulty, until you're effectively playing several tiers over Inferno difficulty.

Compared to other mods that make the game harder, the forte of Gate is that you will feel the difficulty curve creep up slowly. It may even grown to impossible levels, but place your trust in your teammates and in the modding community's new weapons, and even this challenge shall be conquered.

Manage to survive til the very end, and you will find the Nameless waiting for you at the final battle.

Crunching up numbers, if we consider that the vanilla campaign rises in difficulty from 0% to 100% through its entirety (0% at the start, 100% in the finale), then the mod here adds another 100% during each of the campaign loops. Reaching up to 400% difficulty, which is almost twice the limit of the DLC Mission Pack 2.

Gate of Steiner is intended to be played on Inferno, but the new missions will unlock on just any difficulty. If you have already beaten the EDF6 campaign, you will notice that a new mission (148) is available at the bottom of the list, which marks the beginning of the first loop.

An alternative version of the mod is also available, which turns Mission 148 into a cheat (as seen below).
It is entirely optional, and not necessary to progress even if you do install this version by mistake.

INSTALLATION

To install the mod, extract its zip archive in the EDF6 folder, located in:
"Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Earth Defence Force 6"
When installed correctly, the installation folder should look like in the screenshot below.

Please notice that temporarily, the missions menu is going to be in English regardless of the version of the game.
