About this mod
All Great Runes get lots of extra effects matching the lore of their Boss. The goal is for each to change the gameplay in a unique and very noticeable way.

I tried to avoid boring numeric stats changes and go for altering game mechanics wherever I could. Also no Rune should in theory be too overpowered, but in reality the effects are just what I thought would be cool without too much regard for game balance.
This is still a work in progress and I might add/change/remove effects from time to time. If you have any ideas how to make this mod better, please do leave a comment!!
GODRICK'S GREAT RUNE
Godrick the Grafted doesn't have any qualities of his own, but he's trying to make the strenght of other beings his own by grafting parts of them onto himself. The Tarnished gets stronger by gathering Runes (experience) from other beings and using them to level up, and this Great Rune helps them do that faster.
This rune is the "best" (but still boring) of vanilla runes so it saw the least number of changes. Being the starter rune I gave it the most basic but useful effect early in a playthrough.
+ "Covetous of Golden Strength": All enemies in all areas drop 2 times their normal amount of runes.
RADAHN'S GREAT RUNE
Starscourge Radahn is a master of gravity magic and he uses it to make his huge body super light to not crush his trusty steed, Leonard. A warrior with an unwavering iron will, even with his sanity consumed by Rot he keeps using the majority of his magic power to somehow hold large amounts of stars in place.
His Great Runes conveys to you his control over gravity, him being a master Archer and Horseman, but locks away some of your magic capabilities. Great for any heavy weapon/armor builds and archers.
+ "Gravitational Anchoring" : No attack can ever knock you down or send you flying. Enemies striking you with little force will recoil. You resist the pull of gravity magic.
+ "Denial of Inertia" : You get a huge maximum equip load, always light roll no matter how much you wear.
+ "Featherlight Armory" : Stamina cost for attacking with a weapon and guarding with a shield or weapon is reduced by 50%.
+ "Voidwalker" : You never take fall damage (killboxes and falling out of bounds will still kill you)
+ "Infinite Orbit" : All your projectiles (arrows, bolts) fly 999 times farther and deal 50% more poise damage.
+ "The Most Loyal Companion" : You deal 10% more damage while riding Torrent.
+ "Untiring General" : Immune to Sleep (nothing in current PVE can sleep you, but it's there. May become useful in DLC?)
- "Burden of a Million Stars" : Your total FP is cut in half while the rune is active.
- "Great Attractor" : You draw more aggro (enemies notice you more easily & rather attack you than your spirit summons)
MORGOTT'S GREAT RUNE
Morgott the Grace-Given is a man full of contradictions and duality. He is the holy king of the Golden Lineage but also a cursed Omen. He was shunned and imprisoned but still fights for the Golden Order. He knows you can't reach the Erdtree but still hunts down Tarnished who try to get close to it.
Honestly I'm not too happy with this rune but couldn't make it anything better, so it's centererd around this theme of his holy/cursed double persona. There is no Great Rune for pure mages, so I put the ability best suited for magic builds here, even though it's a stretch lore-wise.
+- "Grace-Given Monarch" : Active while you are above 50% HP. You passively recover 1%FP per 0.5sec. You take 50% less holy damage, you deal 5% less physical and 5% more holy damage. Undead cannot revive when you kill them (with melee attacks).
+- "Taint of the Fell Omen" : Active while you are below 50% HP. Attacks made against you accumulate and eventually reflect back in an explosion. Your attacks are amplified with unholy flame and deal 20% extra physical & 20% less holy damage, but you also take 50% more holy damage.
+ "Treasury of Leyndell" : +1000 item discovery (example: at Arcane lvl10, this raises an item with an 8% drop chance to ~50% drop rate)
+ "Fruits of Life and Knowledge" : One use of your Crimson/Cerulean Flasks restores you to full HP/FP (regardless of flask upgrade level)
+ "Two Finger's Guidance" : Immune to Frenzy.
+ "Rooted to the Erdtree" : You don't lose your runes upon death.
RYKARD'S GREAT RUNE
Rykard the Lord of Blasphemy fed himself and his Great Rune to a serpent and somehow managed to survive inside of it. Now he absorbs champions to grow even bigger, is connected to fire/lava, has a huge amount of life and is almost unkillable without exploiting his weak point. The lifesteal his vanilla Rune gives is useless in boss fights so I enhanced it.
Use his Rune when you want to stay alive.
+ "God-Devouring Serpent's Greed" : Everytime you kill an enemy, your maximum HP increase by 1% and your max FP by 0.5% of their starting values.*
- "God-Devouring Serpent's Sloth" : Everytime you kill an enemy and absorb their life, your max equip load and stamina decrease by 0.1%.*
+ "God-Devouring Serpent's Envy" : Everytime you deal melee damage to an enemy, you life-steal 3% of your current total HP.
+ "God-Devouring Serpent's Wrath" : You only take 50% fire damage and 75% lightning damage.
+ "God-Devouring Serpent's Lust" : Immune to Deathblight. Immune to bleeding (moved here from Mohg's Rune for lore reasons)
- "God-Devouring Serpent's Gluttony" : Crimson & Cerulean flask have no effect while the rune is active.
- "God-Devouring Serpent's Hubris" : All incantations cost 50% more FP, all sorceries cost 25% more.
(*) The effect resets when you fast travel, rest at a Grace or die. Your HP bar will stop growing once it fills the screen, but your status will still show the increased values. In theory the amount of life you can absorb is only limited by the number of enemies in the game within a single load
MALENIA'S GREAT RUNE
Malenia is for many a challenging fight because she attacks a lot and attacks fast. Using her Great Rune you don't have to hold back waiting for your stamina to recover and can fight just as agressively. FP work like a rage meter from action games, build it up with normal attacks then spend if with Ashes of War.
If you want the Bloodborne-esque hit & run, fast-paced playstyle, use this Rune.
+ "Spirit of the Undefeated" : Rally mechanic. When striking back immediately after you took damage, you undo some of the damage.
+ "Empyrean Endurance" : You have 20% more stamina and your stamina recovery rate is greatly increased.
+ "Blue Dancer's Elegance" : All your dodge rolls get about 25% more i-frames.
+ "Valkyrie's Battle Frenzy" : Recover 5% of your total FP with every melee hit you land. FP cost of weapon skills is reduced by 50%.
+ "Flowing Water breaks the Rock" : Your attacks never bounce back on shields or enemies made of stone/crystal/etc. (they still bounce from environment)
+ "Vector of Rot" : Immune to Rot & Poison.
- "Inborn Affliction" : Your HP is reduced to 90% of your normal.
The reduced flask effectiveness penalty for this Rune has been removed.
MOHG'S GREAT RUNE
Funny enough, Mohg the Lord of Blood is himself pretty weak to Bleed. He uses blood curses and is connected to an Outer God, the Formless Mother. His followers are related to invasions/going into other worlds/spirit forms.
His vanilla Great Rune is almost useless outside PvP so it received the most changes. Now it's pretty unique, you can play with this Rune a pure Summoner hiding behind their Spirit Ashes, an Assassin sneaking around backstabbing everything, or just enhance your Bleed build. Negative effects are there to keep you from just letting Spirits beat the game for you.
+ "Blessing of Blood" : The Phantom Great Rune buff you get for PVP is applied to you and your Spirit summons in PVE.
+ "Formless Mother's Embrace" : Hides your presence, making it harder for enemies to notice you.
+ "Ephemeral Dynasty" : All of your spirit summons are now actual spirits, enemies cannot touch/hurt them (but they can hurt enemies).
+ "Sescenti Sexaginta Sex" : (Latin for 666) Increases the duration of all your buff spells/incantations by 666 seconds.
+ "Boiling Blood" : Immune to Frostbite.
- "Craving for Wounds" : Whenever bleeding happens around you, you gain a bloodflame buff for 13sec and deal 33% extra damage, but lose 33HP instantly and suffer 33% more bleed damage for the duration of the buff.
- "Worldly Detachment" : While this great rune is active, you will only gain 50% runes from defeated enemies.
OPTIONAL FILE: GREATEST RUNE EDITION
" Malenia is daughter to Queen Marika and Radagon, and her Great Rune should have been the most sacred of all . "
All abilities as listed above, but Malenia's Great Rune also gets:
+ 2% total +4 flat HP lifesteal on every melee hit, closer to what she does in the bossfight
+ Always light roll
INSTALLATION
If you don't plan to use any other mods besides this one in the same playthrough, just install into a ModEngine folder. Otherwise use DSMapStudio to import the modded rows into your SpEffectParam:
- if you haven't already, create a new DSMapStudio "Project" in your mod folder (where your modded regulation.bin is. Usually that's just ...\ELDEN RING\Game\mod\)
- check my SpEffectParam.csv file. the rows in there should be 602 to 657, 500030, 500031, 500043, 500044
- go to ParamEditor and select SpEffectParam
- click Edit -> Import CSV -> From file... -> All
- select the SpEffectParam.csv from this mod, and the modded rows should appear
- save the param into your regulation.bin
