Challenge mod for Messmer the Impaler, increasing the difficulty of his fight through additional abilities and upgraded attack patterns.

Ah...thou art Tarnished it seemeth...

Messmer is my favourite DLC boss and I thought of giving him a mod for himself. He's also one of the three bosses that I initially planned to mod, aside from Promised Consort and Godfrey.

This was quite a challenge to mod, especially with editing his AI and stuff. Like always, I balanced the mod to be possible to be beaten without getting hit with a medium roll setup. 

Changes to the bossfight:

1. Messmer's combos are mostly extended. This is especially evident with combos that last for only 2 hits like the delayed swipe to the spinning stab or the retreat flame swipes.

2. Messmer now can fight without his spear. Once he throws his spear to the ground, he can carry out combos with his hands alone and will summon his spear back at the right moments as a surprise. 

3. Messmer now has a punish for excessive aggression. You can find out yourself. 

4. Messmer can use other Messmer fire incantations other than Fire Serpent and Messmer's Orb.

5. Base Serpent Messmer now starts the fight just above 75% HP instead of half health. 

6. When below 40% HP, Messmer is guaranteed to do the Mass Serpent Assault. This also triggers a 3rd Phase where his body and spear will be set aflame and gain a 20% fire damage boost and extra fire resistance, though at a price (Hint: "O lightless creature, embrace thine oblivion as shall I."). The follow-ups of the Mass Serpent Assault is changed and are significantly deadlier.   

7. Base Serpent Messmer's variant of Messmer's Assault and the Rapid Spinning Attack from neutral are extended. 

8. Messmer in his 3rd Phase can extend the last part of Messmer's Assault.

9. Base Serpent Messmer's serpent transformation is now locked to his 3rd Phase, and he can sometimes transform in the middle of his combo. The transformation is replaced with variations of his serpent summon attacks in his 2nd Phase, in which he still can do in Phase 3. 

10. Base Serpent Messmer’s serpent transformation attacks are enhanced. 

11. Messmer's Serpent Form has double resistances to everything, having double damage reduction as well as double status ailment resistances. There is however one way to bypass this (If you don't want to get spoiled, don't look at the changelogs). 

12. Base Serpent Messmer has a last hurrah attack when his health reaches a critical state. 

13. Changed the boss healthbar label to "Inner Messmer" and "Inner Serpent".

14. Messmer has a new effect during his death animation. His spear also will remain on the floor for a longer period of time during his death animation. 


QoL Additions to the mod:
1. Like Inner Consort Radahn and Lord Godfrey, Grace's Chosen, a boss ressurection feature. Interact with the statue of Marika outside the boss room after you defeat Messmer to resurrect him.

Installation

1. Download the mod zip folder. Once the download is completed, extract the folder.
2. Open the extracted files. There you will find a folder named “mod”. Drag the folder to the ModEngine2 folder containing the launcher, as there is a folder named “mod” in there too.
