Somehow, this would make the storyline a lot more emotionally negative. Think of it, just when you're about to get married, you learn from your best friend(also your bridesmaid) that your father just escaped the Vault, his best friend has been killed, and the guards are after you. You manage to escape and get out of the Vault, the one place you called home, only to realize you're still in your wedding dress. That beautiful, innocent dress is the only weapon you have against the wasteland. How terrific that would be...
You're at the Vault's chapel. Everyone you know is there. You're on the door and about to enter the chapel, with your groom waiting by the priest's side. You're waiting for your father. Suddenly your best friend Amata comes at you, running, telling you to get out as soon as you can or you will be captured by the guards, the very guards that protected you against the bullies, the Tunnel Snakes when you were a child.
Anyways, you escape the Vault, go to the nearby town called Megaton, to search for your daddy. As soon as you get out of the Vault cave, bright light shine before your eyes. It goes away eventually though, and you can see the world.
You see a wasteland, a true wasteland. Wicked, dirty and destroyed. The only signs of civilization are debrises scattered around. Than you understand, you should've never got out.
