I've always wondered why they added mines in the game. You're always on the attacker's side, entering a building and killing and looting everything in it.
If you are always in the offensive position, why would one need a defensive weapon like a mine?
True, there's a few spots here and there they might come in handy, but I had trouble using them effectively anywhere.

That was until I had a revelation. Sneak players will love this.

Besides being a great defensive measure, mines can also be used offensively if you have a Sneak character.
Infiltrate a base, observe the choke points and patrol routines, then drop your mines where you see fit.
After that, you can let all hell break loose and let your mines do half the work OR you can just let enemies step on the occasional mine, not knowing where the hell it came from.

Mines, always bring them, like you do with your grenades.
