So in the Fallout 4 footage I saw a scene where "Dog" was walking along with the player and started sniffing the ground, and I thought "gosh I sure wish my FO3/FNV dog could do that"... Then I remembered there was a unused animation that did just that.

So after alot of messing around I got it DM would randomly start smelling the ground and walk along. Tada FO4 Dog in FO3. :P

It will be in my Dogmeat Overhaul mod, once I find a good % for it to show up.
Also posting pics of DM's finished equipment options tomorrow sometime. Release is getting close! :D

    %50 would probably be decent. Don't know if it is me. But my Dog stops to sniff every 10 seconds.

      All of mine too, they almost never stop sniffing when going someplace not home lol. But since its a walking animation atm I want it to not get to much in the way, but I want it to show up a good amount too.

      So looking forward to this mod can I say. it's the smallest thing but it looks as if it will bring a bit more life to Dogmeat.

    sweet, I would love to see that

    might be interesting if dogmeat could be trained to sniff out mines and use that animation to do it

      The animation is not that precise to be used for it imo, and not to mention he would pretty much set off the mine since there is no way currently to not have NPC set off mines. ):

      I would say the light step perk could come into effect here but I have no clue if it can be given to npcs or if it's even in fallout 3.

      Nope, the perk can be tweaked alittle to make it work with followers BUT it works on everything BUT mines. Which is the whole point of the perk to me lol.

    Well done! You have probably thought of this already, but it occurs to me that this particular animation could be used in two quite different situations. First, as an idling option. Second, when Dogmeat is told to "find" stuff.

      I believe that is actually what the animation was going to be used for, but its not set up correctly to use it. I will try it and see if it messes up anything with his searching, if not then I will fix to actually work.
