About this image

This is a re-post of last night's VPO update since the original wound up in the Oblivion album. What can I say? 4 am and bleary-eyed... things happen.

Its been a while since I have made any mods. Over a year, in fact. This was largely due to some RL issues that were both painful and, unfortunately, ongoing. Be that as it may, I'm modding as I can. And one of the first things I did, besides coughing up some mods for Skyrim and Skyrim SE, was do something about my Protectron Overhaul mod. As some have noticed (thanks for the emails, btw), VPO was hidden around the first week of November.

Be patient, and don't be troubled! I am updating the mod with some new features! These include:

  • Enhanced details,
  • Lore-friendly paint options
  • All new, highly detailed ball-joints
  • Better alpha channels
  • New EM maps
  • Better engine detail (the engines are no longer flat - they have depth!
  • All painted or plated Protectrons have had their knee plating corrected. Now it is not shiny metal.

Best of all, I picked up where I left off at with Fallout New Vegas, and when VPO 3.0 for Fallout 3 goes live, so will VPO for Fallout New Vegas.

Bonus: All Protectrons are in some way different, including the Construction Protectrons having different Serial Numbers.

The posted screenshot is of the new, lore-adherent Amry Protectrons for Fallout 3. Oh! One more thing; the Army Protectron in New Vegas are painted in vintage, WWII desert tan, which is faded and pitted. I think it looks pretty neat with the bronzed Ball-Joints.

If you would like to see more dev shots of the new Fallout 3 Army Protectrons and its enhanced details, click here.

FALLOUT NEW VEGAS UPDATE!

I just put a few dev shots of the Army Protectrons with their desert tan paint jobs up at the linked gallery. Once I get the glow maps set, VPO for Fallout 3 and New Vegas are going live!

What ENB do you have there?

Hehe. I get more questions about that. That's my own ENB for Fallout 3: Eidolon. Its hidden right now because I'm updating it to work with ENB v0.322, up from v0.278. And no. No textures other than my Sun, Moon, Stars, and Protectrons. Everything else is pure Bethesda. To see more of that ENB using v0.278, check out my Tesla PA mod, here. You can also look at the Eidolon 6.0 Preview here on Nexus, and follow the link in the blurb (or click here) to see the 6.0 dev gallery at Imgur.

Awesome work - I hope that your situation in RL improves and you feel better, put that before doing mods.

Is it possible to have a version with no 'Robco' logo on the robo-crotch?
I know it's silly, but that has always annoyed me.
So much so that I use Id2301's Protectron Retextured mod for all Protectrons (except the Construction yellow ones).

That's exactly why I began to make the RobCo plates match the paint scheme, if the Protectron in question were painted to begin with.

I do feel ya about the badges, though. I was actually thinking about doing a delete version before you mentioned this. Here I am cresting a hill after fighting off 4 Death Claws, and I don't see the Protectrons who I surprised readying to kill. Instead, I see Protectron crotches flashing blue RobCo badges at me. The voices and their threatening worlds aren't coming from their heads. They're coming from those RobCo crotch-badges. With 15 hit-points and no stim packs left, that just adds insult to injury.
