What is this?

A completely optional add-on, in the optional section of the files download page, to customize the body shape and skin textures for the female Project Valkyrie followers.

What does it do?

Allows you to customize the body shape, body textures, and face textures for the following companions from Project Valkyrie: Valkyrie. Sarah, Fiona, Gloria, and Nora.

The mod comes with default vanilla body textures and meshes, and Valkyr face textures. By swapping in your own meshes and textures, you can give each follower a custom look.

Should I use it?

ABSOLUTELY NOT..... Unless you read this ENTIRE page so you can understand how it works.  This is for experienced and patient mod users only, and will take at least 15 minutes of your time to get it working. All the details are covered here. No support will be provided, so please read.

If you install this add-on as is, without customizing, it will make your Project Valkyrie followers WORSE, not better, because you'll be replacing (for example) CBBE body meshes and textures with vanilla ones.

To make the PV followers BETTER, you need to follow the instructions below to swap in your own body textures and meshes. See below for details.

Required Files

Outcasts and Remnants (v1.2 or higher)
Project Valkyrie (v1.0 or higher)

Your game will CRASH! if you try to install the add-on without the required files above activated.

How to Install

Either with a mod manager, or by dragging the files into your data folder.

What if I already installed this optional file before, but now I want the update?

Then just take the .esp file from the most recent version, and let it overwrite the .esp file in the old version. You don't need to update the meshes or textures (as that will wipe out any mesh/texture customization you did before).

How to Customize (You need to read this part)

These instructions are written from the perspective of CBBE, because it is the #1 mod on Fallout 4 Nexus. If you use JaneBod, EVB, Wonderbody, Atomic Beauty, or something else, you'll need to mentally swap in the respective mod for CBBE in places where CBBE is mentioned below.

Navigate to Fallout4\Data\Meshes\actor\character\

You should see folders for Valkyrie, Sarah, Fiona, Gloria, and Nora. Each folder will have the following meshes:

FemaleBody.nif
FemaleHands.nif
1stPersonFemaleBody.nif
1stPersonFemaleHands.nif

Step 1: Replace the vanilla meshes with better ones

CBBE comes with files for the above meshes. They are located in: Data\meshes\actors\character\characterassets.

Take the CBBE files for the above 4 meshes, and copy/paste them into the mesh folders for the PV followers, overwriting the original files. 

Using Valkyrie as an example, replace the 4 mesh files located in Data\Meshes\actor\character\Valkyrie with the 4 meshes from CBBE located in:
Data\meshes\actors\character\characterassets. You will need to repeat this process for each follower: Valkyrie, Sarah, Fiona, Gloria, and Nora. So do it 5 times in total.

Step 2 (Optional): How do I make the boobs/butt/belly, etc. custom for each follower?

This is controlled by the FemaleBody.nif.  You can generate a custom one in Bodyslide. If you don't know how to do that, this article isn't going to teach you. There are plenty of tutorials online explaining how this works. If you ask for Bodyslide help in the comments, you will NOT receive help, and your comment will be deleted. This is a quest mod, not a body mod. We're not going to pollute the comments section with waifu/harem tech support discussions.

Take the custom FemaleBody.nif you generate with Bodyslide, and copy/paste it into the the mesh folders for the PV followers, overwriting the original files. 

Step 3: Customize the body skin for each follower

Navigate to Fallout 4\Data\textures\actors\character\

You should see folders for Valkyrie, Sarah, Fiona, Gloria, and Nora. Each folder will include the following sh*tty vanilla textures (i.e. replace):

FemaleBody_d.dds
FemaleBody_n.dds
FemaleBody_s.dds
BaseFemaleHands_d.DDS
BaseFemaleHands_n.DDS
BaseFemaleHands_s.DDS

And the following excellent Valkyr face textures (i.e. probably don't replace):

basefemalehead_d.dds
basefemalehead_n.dds
basefemalehead_s.dds

Now locate the following 9 files that come with CBBE, located in: data\textures\actors\character\basehumanfemale:

FemaleBody_d.dds
FemaleBody_n.dds
FemaleBody_s.dds
BaseFemaleHands_d.DDS
BaseFemaleHands_n.DDS
BaseFemaleHands_s.DDS
femalebhed_d
femalebhed_n
femalebhed_s

Take the CBBE files for the above 9 textures, and copy/paste them into the texture folders for the PV followers, overwriting the original files when asked to do so. 

Using Valkyrie as an example, replace the texture files located in Data\Textures\actors\character\Valkyrie with the textures from CBBE located in: Data\textures\actors\character\basehumanfemale. You will need to repeat this process for each follower: Valkyrie, Sarah, Fiona, Gloria, and Nora. So do it 5 times in total.

Step 4 (optional): Customize the face skin for each follower.

The add-on mod already comes with awesome Valkyr face textures, so you can skip this step if you want.  But if you want to replace the face textures with something else, then here are the face textures that you would replace:

basefemalehead_s.dds

For example, CBBE comes with these textures if you like them better than the Valkyr ones.

Can you recommend some good female body texture replacers?

Provided you start with CBBE body textures from Step 3 above, then usually, FemaleBody_d.dds is all you'll need to replace to get the desired visual effect of the follower having a custom body texture.

However, some body textures, like those from Nuclear Nude that have a wet or sweaty look, are going to look much better if you also swap in the FemaleBody_n.dds and FemaleBody_s.dds textures as well. And all the BaseFemaleHands textures too so that the hands perfectly match the body.
