The FallUI series installation guide
This guide describes the full installation of all FallUI series mods.
All FallUI series mods are highly modular, so you can install just the ones you like. All packages are built conflict-free as far as possible for easy installation. So you shouldn't have much problems while installing them.
But people asked me how to install all and in which order or if there are some specific procedure. So this guide will cover that.
Mid-game installation
If you going to use this on a new game, you can skip the "Mid-game installation" section.
All FallUI series mods (beside the Item Sorter) can be installed mid-game without problems. You can install/remove them at any time.
The Item Sorter is a special case, because all Item Sorter have the drawback of saved weapon/apparel item names in your savegame. A mid-game installed Item Sorter won't damage your savegame or quests, but the saved previous item names still exist in your savegame. This will affect most weapons and apparel. However, there exists simple methods to fix this (Drop and retake the weapon/apparel fix it for most items. If not, change the weapon/apparel at a workbench. If that also don't work, you can simply add/remove the tag via "rename" yourself)
Installation
- (Optional, but recommended) Item Sorter - You need an item sorter if you like to have item categorization and item icons
- If you use VIS-G, Horizon or already have an Item Sorter skip the "Item Sorter" step!
- If you don't know your favorite item sorter, you can use the FIS - The NEW FallUI Item Sorter with FallUI - Icon Library
- Install FallUI - Inventory - Install using the default options
- Install FallUI - HUD - Install using the default options
- Install FallUI - Workbench
- Install FallUI - Confirm Boxes
- Install FallUI - Map
- Install FallUI - Sleep and Wait
- Make sure you have enabled archive invalidation
- (Optional, but highly recommended) Increase your Pipboy resolution (Resolution comparison)Spoiler:ShowOpen your fallout4prefs.ini (Note: If you use MO2, then your game ini is not in the default folder. But you can just use MO2 for INI edit). Change or add those both entries to the following:
For gamepad users: Warning - If you apply the new resolution, the virtual mouse cursor in the Pipboy map becomes locked to the upper left area. So you should not use this. Possible workarounds:
[Display]
uPipboyTargetHeight=1400
uPipboyTargetWidth=1752Spoiler:ShowIf you want to use it anyway, there is a possible workaround:
1) Turn off gamepad
2) Then open Pipboy map via TAB
3) Turn on gamepad
Then the mouse isn't locked to the map region. It isn't perfect, but at least you can reach anything again and have high resolution.
Alternate workaround: You can use FallUI Map. That mod allows scrolling the map with the DPAD. So you can reach most even with the limited
locked virtual mouse cursor area. - Install Mod Configuration Menu. (It works without, but you won't be able to configure FallUI in-game)
- Done!
Load order
Important: This list includes optional mods in [Brackets] for completeness. These [mods] are no requirement. So if you don't have it, just ignore them.
- [Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch]
- [AWKCR]
- [TruBy9]
- [def_ui]
- [VIS-G]
- [HUDFramework]
- [Horizon]
- [Mod Configuration Menu]
- [Icon Library]
- [OLD FallUI Item Sorter Mod]
- [OLD FallUI Item Sorter Mod - Extra: Radio Tags]
- FallUI - Inventory
- FallUI - HUD
- FallUI - Workbench
- FallUI - Confirm Boxes
- FallUI - Map
- FallUI - Sleep and Wait
- [NEW FIS basic naming file or your custom Complex Sorter generated patch)
Always remember: There are two "load orders":
- 1. The plugin/esp load order (right side in Mod Organizer 2, plugin order list in Vortex)
- 2. The mod file priority load order (left side in Mod Organizer 2, managed by before/after-rules in Vortex).
Note: The FallUI series mods are built as conflict-free packages. So despite some rare exceptions (like the Item Sorter), they don't need a special load order. Just make sure, they don't get overwritten by other mods!
