About this image
The finished paints for the Brotherhood of Steel that will be available with my upcoming power armor overhaul. The lower ranks (Knights through Knight-Commanders) will wear T-45. Officer ranks (Paladin through Elder) will wear T-51.
In the vanilla game, officers are the only troops with the black and red paint scheme. I would imagine that was the case since the brotherhood soldiers wear the same armor, and needed to be distinguishable. Since my mod separates the armor between the ranks, I chose to match their colors for the sake of uniformity, and it works because they are sill very distinguishable.

T-60 and X-01 could have been welcome additions to the lore, if they were written in correctly. T-60 could have been a
new Brotherhood model. APA MK I could have had have been accessed through an Enclave contingent or even the Brotherhood Of Steel. Both of these ideas were murdered, and instead shoehorned into the previously established lore. There's already mods that address this exact thing. My mod differentiates from the others by simply reverting the lore back to the way it was, rather than changing it around to somewhat fix where Bethesda messed up.
Changing the old lore wasn't even necessary in the first place, considering I never use t-45 or t-51 long enough to care about either armor set. At a certain point, players are essentially locked to either t-60 or x-01 in both a gameplay and story-driven aspect. So I then ask, what is the point having a variety in what armors you can wear, when there is basically no reason to ever use t-45 or T-51 at a certain point in the game? t-45 has the only minutemen skin, and t-51 has the only railroad skin. That's about the only reason it'll ever possibly be used again because some people want to rock their faction paints. Every power armor essentially has the exact same use and mods, the only difference being what paints are available, overall appearance differences, and damage resistance stat change.
Basically what I'm saying is there wasn't really a variety to begin with, and if there was, I think my mod adds enough to supplement what I've removed.
