      That’s why it’s called alpha. :) The textures are missing alpha channel, which makes them look like ribbons instead of individual strands.

      Since I know nothing really about textures, what is causing the shiny look? A specular map?

      Sorta. I have only loaded the diffuse texture, just to see the hair position ingame.
