Due to the Brotherhood of Steel had been eradicated from the New Commonwealth and the Institute been gone, the members of the New Commonwealth felt the need to further improve their new society. Therefor it was decided in late 2289 that a formal, institutional law should be created, alongside with a new law enforcement body. The service was named "Commonwealth State Police" or CSP for short. It's HQ was set in the old Boston State Prison at the shores of Broad Sound. While every settlement is free and encouraged to designate a local police service (most follow the tradition of electing a sheriff) those policemen and woman have to be trained and educated at the Boston State Prison. The facility also holds areas for other groups of police services and - of course - prison cells.
