About this image

June 14th is Flag Day in America. It's not a major holiday, but simply a day to take
Pride in our flag and what it has stood for in the last two and half centuries.

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress took a break from writing the
Articles of Confederation and passed a resolution stating that “the flag of the United
States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in
a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson marked the anniversary of that decree by officially
establishing June 14 as Flag Day.

I made a short video based on Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" to commemorate
Flag Day.

It's on Rumble just click the link to go there.

Thank you very much. The Enclave flag without the "E" in the middle of the stars is the original American flag. There are 13 stars in the circle, one for each of the original 13 states. Now there are 50 states and 50 stars in the field of blue.

Perhaps, you can tell us something about Bastille Day next month.

Haha, I'm from France it's true, but my kingdom is not of this world. =)
Maybe I could talk about the bible when posting pictures of Fallout 3/NV, because the themes are covered in these games. ^^
(I just took a look at the original united states flag <3)

Congrats on your falgday - albeit a belated one. The flag surely means a lot as a symbol. And can be seen as the incarnation of everything good or - mostly in retrospect - the epitome of evil. We're celebrating ours today. According to legend it fell from the sky in Talinn - the capital of Estonia- in 1219 during a crusade. The king saw it as an omen from above and it worked to help the crusaders gather strength turn defeat into victory - according to legend.......

Good story. And with the cross -- it has always made me think of the Templar's cross -- naturally, a flag born in the Crusades. Well, I suppose the Templar's colors are reversed, but it's still what I think of.

It's not likely that you would have heard of Flag Day. It's just a commemoration of the creation of the original American Flag.

      Thanks.

""The pride was in the chorus. In my songs, the spiritual part, the hope part, is in the choruses. The blues and your daily realities are in the details of the verses."  - Bruce Springsteen

"Maybe the meaning of "Born in the U.S.A." is the distance between the grim verses and the joyous chorus. It's the space between frustrating facts and fierce pride — the demand to push American reality a bit closer to our ideals." -  Steve Inskeep, et al

As your video mentioned, there are still a few things  to fix.  That's what all the arguments are about.  But, the good part is, we have the freedom to argue.

Good quotes. I've always liked Bruce Springsteen, especially since he did a song about my home town. Lately I've found how much thought and depth went into his songs and appreciated him all the more.

That's a surprising quote from Steve Inskeep. Although, I suspect his definition of "closer to our ideals" is considerably different from mine.

Yes, many things to fix. Freedom to argue? My wife was permanently banned from Twitter BE (before Elon). Many of the people I follow have been permanently banned by youtube and other media for speaking the truth about Covid, for example. There is a reason that I have to use Rumble instead of youtube now.  I say, it's time to get really woke. Take a look,  we are quickly losing the freedom to argue.

I believe that "social media" platforms are not designed to be open forums with a free exchange of ideas.  They are businesses and, much like the "news" businesses, are designed to generate revenue by preaching to their own choirs.

Thinking about that now, it's not much different than it's been for some time.  A parallel to a Twitter ban:  In the era before television (and the internet), when newspapers and radio were the disseminators of information, if the proverbial "(wo)man in the street" wanted to speak out in a forum that could reach many people and wrote a "letter to the editor" of a newspaper, the editor would decide whether to print it or not.  After all, they were in the business of selling newspapers.  Of course, if there were a rival newspaper . . .

“If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're mis-informed.”
      ― Mark Twain

Newspapers, lol.  Kind of dark ages, don't you think? Social media (including podcasts), like it or not, has become the town crier in the village square, the op-ed page for billions, and the main platforms for discussions, the exchange of ideas, and naturally propaganda. as well as mis-information, and dis-information. Also these sites are the primary source of news for many people.

Take for example, Tucker Carlson, formerly of Fox News Channel. On a good night his program, the most popular show on Fox, would have 3M viewers. Since Tucker left Fox News viewership has cratered. Tucker now "airs" his analysis and comment on Twitter. Last night he presented an episode that has already had 80 M views. Eighty million views! And 35,000  people posted comments and discussion about the episode. Newspapers are dead and legacy media including cable is dead.

Eighty million viewers have spoken with their eyes and feet. Don't try to tell me that social media platforms are not the mead halls, the pubs of today.  And because of this obvious importance, censorship cannot be tolerated.

As for the film, that's so neat how well you transitioned from Bruce to Fallout. It took me a while to be sure they were different, it was so seamless :) Great job on both! :)

Thanks. I was trying to match the album cover as best I could. I had to use a rag instead of a ball cap in his rear pocket. But I figure my version of Bruce is a grease monkey.

I had never listened closely to the lyrics before. Powerful. They say a lot without saying a lot. That takes a special talent.

On a side note, I never noticed before your main image how much the Fallout 4 motorcycles resemble the old Indian motorcycles from the 1940s. The artists at Bethesda did a really cool job making them atomic while keeping the aesthetics of that day.

Likewise. And the appropriately colored glasses. Unlike the current occupant of the WH who doesn't seem to know where he is or what country it is.

Thanks. I guess I like our flag -- a lot. I have flags flying in several locations. It means a lot to me.
