People were trying to reverse engineer things, but it's quite a task. Let's hope they manage something. If not, modding will be very limited indeed. I'm making a revolver as well, and it also suffers from not having perfect animations.
And Nuka wWorld doesn't fill me with hope for a proper assault rifle. I imagine there will be unusual/themed weapons,
And then Bethesda proceeds to show stuff we can't do again at E3. "Here are some examples of mods" and the first thing that appears is a robot with new animations, undoubtedly made by one of their developers during their gamejam event.

That would do okay for me. A hybridization between this gun's magazine reload with the shapes of the stock and fore stock of the original R91 - could be its Bullpup version for FO4. May not be perfect, but at least it will be a better compromise over the blocky LMG we got in the vanilla game.
Even getting a gun that is similar to one of the vanilla guns ingame is often a pain, because even a small difference can mess up the animations. I think we'll have to put up with the smg anims for FO4 modding.
All we can really do now is wait and see what Nuka World's Arsenal will be like and what we'll get. If we get a pistol griped rifle in it, then modders will have better chances of making proper assault rifles like the ones in FO3 and FO:NV. If not then we'll have to hope some professional modders will be able to reverse engineer the SMG animations for assault rifles.
It's frustrating to say the least when you put so much work into this and have to give up when it's almost done.

Otherwise, the mod looks fantastic, please take a gander at the radium rifle animations from Far Harbor, it's right-side ejecting & left-charging/cocking. Ohright, if it hasn't been brought up before, try and get ahold of the mod author from this: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14255/? it has 7.92Kurz ammo, you guys may be able to figure something out.
