About this image

Awhile back I started working on a mod that lets you modify the vault suit coloration and trim using custom textures without having to make all suits look like that. With the planned release of the Vault Workshop DLC in August I figured it'd be a good time to start work on it again. At first I wasn't planning to release it to consoles (Not because I dislike them, but because the mod would probably use assets from other mod authors once/if I recieved permission to.) but I decided to give a try at trying to recolor the vault suits without doing a half-assed job. It still isn't as perfect as I'd like but it is suitable (Har har pun. I made a funneh...) to at least allow it to be uploaded for consoles without using other mod assets.

Pictured above is the current work of the mod. Keep in mind with the suit on the left the whole suit may appear white but that's only because I'm using the matching trim and material. Due to how the suits work when Bethesda set them up (Lucky actually!) I was able to set a separate attach point to change the suit color. That means I could use the white suit on the left, with the green trim of MacCready's suit on the right, or vice versa. Each category has up to 6 different options for trim and suit material color. You could have up to if my math is correct, 36 different color combinations providing that each .dds file has a different suit trim and color. Suits also have a means of changing the number on the back so you can completley omit the number, change it to a different one, or even use a decal on it as I've done above.

Currently I'm just planning to make one for each faction and then two custom ones the user can insert their own decals into. Currently I've got the Railroad, Minutemen, and Brotherhood of Steel factions covered. Trying to find a decal for the Institute hasn't been easy within the game files. As I said while I know I can use other assets I intend to release this on console as well so I either need to find a free-to-use image or ones already made in-game. That doesn't mean however users can't use their own textures or textures from other mods, the structure I'm trying to set up will allow this just by renaming the textures to the correct naming convention and dropping them into the correct folder. I do hope to if I can recieve permissions make a pre-assembled pack for some of the more popular vault suit rextextures for users to install but this part may not be available for console users depending on the mod author's wishes.
