I also wonder how difficult it would be to add a plastic, ribbon-like handle, the ones that are flat against the underground but can be pulled up a bit because the edges which are sitting underneath chrome covers have some play-room... again, just musings
I'd also get rid of the rusty plaque at the front, in case there's no anti tetanus siringe inside the box...
Only way to keep the cross red is to eliminate the inner circle and leave it white, but I'm not here to dictate what you should or shouldn't do.
Whatever you choose to do, I'll have a go at it anyway when you make it part of this or that mod

Under serious threat I would still go for the box with the red top and red cross although they all would sit proud in any Scouts camp nurse's tent...
Looks mighty fine too, hanging from the wall like that...
