Not certain as to how well it would function with such a wide and jagged opening though. You want it to be the same diameter as the projectile so as to let the round pass through, while trapping as much gas as possible. My sense of scale could be off, but a .30 cal should be at least half that size.

Of course, if it were loose, multiple impact zones would certainly result in a rough opening. Given that it seems to be attached with communist electrical tape, that might be what you were going for anyhow.
Regardless, the whole weapon looks outstanding.
