+ I've just released the update! ^^
Nick is such an amazing character, her really deserved to look good, I'm glad that I was able to improve him and his outfit so that he looks fine now next to all the fully modded player characters! Have much fun with him!
1) Make the semi-circle portion brighter than the 'circuitry' sprawl around them. Alternatively, make the semi-circle a different color (white, or brighter blue)
2) Keep the eyes more simple. I think this mod:

Did the eyes brilliantly. What I like is that they look like lenses. But I'm a sucker for 'practicality' in aesthetic, so take that with a grain of salt. But those are my suggestions! I think your work is amazing!
About his eyes... they seem a bit darker than the textures actually are because of his hat which always causes a shadow > they look better/more metallic silver on the rest of the Gen1+2 synths. I'm thinking about making the glow a bit brighter... but I don't think that I will change anything else about the design. I liked that idea/look of the vanilla synth eyes, that's why I kept the semi-circle style and just added much more details around it and didn't even think about turning them into lenses or something else entirely.
If the eyes from that mod are perfect for you then you should use them for your Nick, I'm sure they will look nice with my face retexture for him.
Since we're zero'd in on what you want in the eyes, I think adding that glow you mentioned would make them pop for sure! I look forward to your final product, your work is glorious
Good to know! Thanks again for your feedback!
Oh and his eyes already glow (see last pic), it is just a bit subtle...
It made Nick a hundred times cooler. And mine's blue-eyed aswell.
One feature I am not sure mentioned is the slightly younger feel to his face which I like. Just a little cleaned-up. I happen to like mature characters as well but in this case I think it works better the way you adjusted his appearance.
The big plus for me is that I just started a new game with Fenn last week and haven't gotten to rescue Nick yet - so haven't met him in-game for this play through. So soon as you release him I will go rescue him.
I totally agree - texture quality is the most important thing > as long as the game still manages to load and everything runs without major stuttering everything is fine! Cos we love eye-candy!
Yes, indeed - I love improvements and overhauls for NPCs/followers but they have to keep the intended look/basic style/heart/core whatever you want to call it and enhance and show the character+personality+role that they have... it's not so much about sticking to lore or anything, it just has to feel right!
I made him a bit younger... not to make him more "beautiful", but because I thought it would match his characer and also his voice a lot more - he seemed like a 40+ year old man to me, and I tried to give his face a bit more realism but still keep the prototype/thrown away/decayed synth style (looked at lots of old mannequin faces for inspiration)...
I can't really tell from the pictures the changes, but when you have an in-game testable version I'll be happy to try it on my setup. I can do before and after comparisons if you wish, comparing your old version to the new one. I play at 4K resolution ultra textures with Nvidia HBAO+ and no ENBs and no reshade.
His facetexture is still nearly the same as from the first version, I just adjusted the color a bit and made sure that all the details come out properly. The big improvement is the new HD texture for the back of his head (finally found a way to do that without having to retexture all synths), and his outfit of course.
Thanks for offering your help, that's really sweet (I'll send you a pm soon) - and great that you play without ENB/Reshade, it will be good to know how he looks in your game!
Amazing as always, Willow!
