Thanks a lot for your lovely comments and feedback! I'm glad that you enjoyed the shots and like the series + topic, I never intended(+thought) that my birthday would steal the show! XD
But >>> all your sweet, kind words and birthday wishes really mean a lot to me! I had a wonderful day yesterday and your messages made it even more special! Thanks for your love and support, not just yesterday but all the years that I'm part of this community!<3 <3 <3
Amid all the chainmail bikini crap, there's a wee bit of a gendered trope revolution going on over in Skyrim these days. Reckon it might be time to take it back to the future, Fallout style. If you ever felt like coming back to the scene, I think your splendid compositions, artful texture work, and natural respect for women as beings more complex than a frame to hang a set of pasties on would find welcome company.
I just wanted to let you know that this is one of the sweetest and most meaningful comments that I ever got! Really means a lot to me! Thank you! <3
...and you are so right with what you say about the screenarcher scene in general! It's not easy as female gamer/modder and all the stuff that we get constantly confronted with. There is sooo much more to the games than horribly skimpy/slutty bikini shots... and don't get me wrong - sexy is not bad, but it has to always be respectful and well done and should have some sort of purpose and not be an endless repetitive show of meat. XD I'm not sure why "the guys" don't ever seem to get tired of the same old same old, but yeah... it's good to know that there are a handful of other people out there who are looking for fun and art and something more!
Your images are amazing by the way, I'll try to take time somewhen and comment on them properly (sadly can't endorse pics here,... you don't have Flickr, right? That would be great, it's a bit easier to keep up with everything over there).
Anyways, maybe I'll have more time to share stuff again in the next few months, I have characters and pics and even some textures that I would love to share... asap!
Institutional sexism is one of those things that just gets up my nose. Especially in something so allegedly one-size-fits-all as computer gaming. I mean, I get it- the mooks who'd like to run the show can't keep 50-whatever per-cent of the population down without strategically dehumanizing their appearance in every single medium to the absolute limit that the media in question can sustain, with the intention of normalizing such dehumanization (and all the crap that follows from a mindset that fails to recognize selfhood in the great mysterious Other) and thereby quelling revolt through psychological boogeymanning that'd be called 'terrorism' if the perps were on the other end of the depleted uranium. And I get that this isn't the first trotting out of the old Innana smear-campaign, but still, like, jeez free-agent modding community, can't you think your way at least to the edges of this here double-bind? All this creepy nested command and control sex-equals-pain-for-someone-else malarkey getting in the way of good, clean simulated murder. Maybe that's a bit much to extrapolate from a picture of a digital silicone hooter in a pushup bra... but not from a thousand of them. The toxic mimic of good ol' lusty body-celebration that is the "skimpy"/"sexy" trope in video-game art seems like a tricky one to subvert, since the tools we use to create in this medium are products of a culture that's baked-in-the-bricks woman-fearing from bottom to top. Looks like you've found a way to buck the one-dimensional virgin-[Nexus still won't let me type wh*re out in full, even when part of the psych term- possibly for the best all things considered] false dichotomy in your own character creation, so more power to ya!
I am not on Flickr, which I half regret since that seems to be where all the screen artists are hanging out these days. Not too keen on surrendering my rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of peace and quiet, plus whatever remaining shreds of internet dignity I'll need to sign away in the EULA small print in order to register for Flickr. Just another form of coercion, which, insofar as I'm able, I'll avoid and throw pebbles at from the sidelines. I'll likely remain in exile among the barbarians here for the foreseeable.
But please do post more work around here! I meant it when I said that your imagery and textures are the tops.
A belated happy birthday, Willowy One, and hopefully there's some cake left so you can enjoy your birthday twice as long
