About this image

The pic is of foundation blocks. Textures from a building and some grass to back, right of it are showing on the blocks. It only seems to happen when looking in certain directions, and it doesn't depend whether it's day or night. I'm using an EVGA nVidia GTX 1050 Ti with the latest drivers.

Sent you a PM but afraid I don't have any definitive answer other than it has happened to me a couple of times I believe.

From everything I've read, this is caused by having too many settlement items your PC is trying to draw in the direction you're facing at the time. I had this happen in certain areas in my Vault 88 build where I was at the edge of the main vault cavern looking through everything I'd built. I had a cafe/restaurant that had a TON of furniture and decorations in it, and if I stood at the back of the room and faced forward looking through all of it AND the rest of vault structure in that direction this would happen. It would only happen if you turned at just the right angle of view though.

I know for myself that can't be it as I don't do any real settlement building.

If using TAA, use the cinsole command twf and see what the game looks like as you move. This looks similar

not sure if this is correct but I believe this tends to happen when you remove something you aren't suppose to like when using a mod like spring cleaning or scrap everything. There are certain things like rocks and such that bethesda placed that when removed can cause this I believe.

Thats a thought although I don't use any mods like that myself (not sure of the OP does). Nor do I remove mods in mid-game, I am very strict about that. Even then my mods are mostly textures. That being said I do have combined objects disabled as I sometimes remove some debris at Red Rocket or a dead body or two. Still the places this has usually occurred, for me at least, is down in the city areas with lots of objects and shadows - and I have never done any building or removal down there - only at Red Rocket and Sanctuary.

I think it is more a memory thing from what I have l seen - running out of memory or maybe textures not loading right. Beyond me really. Still your idea has some merit as well. Wish there was some more data on it. Luckily I haven't seen it happen in a long time - its very rare for me. Think maybe 3 times it has happened since the game came out.
