Eh, I'm not that great tbh.

If you want to improve, I can only offer what I've learned through my experience. Some of it's fairly obvious, but still.

To write something, research. If you're writing about an experience, it's always best to write from your own. If you don't have any first-hand knowledge, put yourself into the shoes of someone who has. For example, I myself have never been an ex-enclave soldier, an old mystic, or a psychopathic murderer ( ). But I can imagine who that person is, the things they've been through, and how that shaped them as a person. After all, we're all the culmination of our experiences, right?

Again, sorry if some of that was pretty obvious stuff, but if it helped, I'm always glad to share my opinions. That said, I'm always looking for more criticism myself.

Its not so much imagining the story or characters as it is putting it down on paper. I see what I want clearly but lack the skill to paint that picture in words. I think I've said the same thing twice...

Everybody's gotta start somewhere. I don't even pre-plan what I write. Usually I think about what I want to do next in the story, take the screenshots in-game, then fill out the dialogue afterwards. The characters will come to life on their own.

Well, I, for one, think you are doing one heck of a good job on these, Cav! I love your style and the images you create to go with the narrative.

To be honest, I agree that the world that is painted in most Fallout games deserve to burn. FO4's world in particular. I couldn't imagine more useless communities than these settlers and city dwellers. Only Goodneighbour seems to have some self-organisation and that is basically the drug den.

A toxic air of lethargy and cowardice permeates the air; these are indeed the greatest wastes of life in a Fallout game I've ever witnessed. This probably has something to do with Bethesda's lazy writing. Too often do people expect you, the random stranger, to solve their problems for them.

Things need to change. Someone needs to step up and be the change, or it will never come.

Chilling, somber -- and very well done.

Thanks Cormell. I've been pondering this character for a while; how to properly write someone who has lost everything, has no reason to live... except revenge.

As a soldier in rl over the past 30+ years I've had some of those same thoughts.

There were a lot of parallels I wanted to draw with this post. The words themselves could be taken out of context and applied to numerous things, both in the game and without.

As someone who has only started his military career, I hope to one day understand what my brothers and sisters have gone through.

      Thank you.
