Doesn't work for me. Tried using the different files and putting the stuff in the ini file. Gas mask still inside my characters face. Any help appreciated!
I know this is an ancient post but this was driving me bonkers every time I visited the Colonial Taphouse in DC with Paul Pembroke showing a metal plate and hat in his chest. After some messing around with xedit, I managed to fix the bowler hat issue for myself and wanted to share how I did it so maybe it will help someone else who is picky like me.

This is what the issue looks like in game.
Hopefully you already know some xedit basics cause I'm not very good at giving directions. I didn't save this edit as a patch, just edited the mod and saved it, but you could probably make a patch if you don't want to edit the mod itself.
To fix it, I opened the mod within xedit and expanded the "Armor" section of the mod.
Scrolled down until I found "ClothesBowlerHat", clicked on it to view its record on the right side of the screen and then scrolled down in the record to "Models". The first red line in my image shows "AAHandyMobsterHat" and to the right of that is a second red line, which will originally show as "AAHandyMobsterHat" but I have already changed it to "AAClothesMobsterHat". I just used the same entry that's directly below it to replace the Handy entry. (When Xedit gives you a warning pop up asking if you're sure you want to make changes, click yes.)
I had to repeat this with another entry, the Mobster Hat.
After these edits, just save and exit Xedit. It should now be fixed in game.
For some reason I can't make the hats and helmets work without clipping with CPC. I've tried the patch(es), I've tried different versions of CH (I have all DLCs and AWKCR, but still), I've tried all different load orders, I've even tried a clean slate with no other mods except CPC and nothing. Any help? I really can't tell why it happens.
works wonders ! also in the screenshots the kid is wearing army fatigues?? what mod is that cos i cant find any mods other than kids clothing and that doesnt have it
It is probably just vanilla clothing, I find that the vast majority of vanilla clothes work just fine on the male child model, not so much for female children since vanilla clothes come with the vanilla female breasts already in the female version of the clothing model.
You can put adult male outfits on male children? Since when? O¿o
I've been thinking about using the Custom Playable Children mod*, and I came here from there to see what my options were (I really HATE all the kid's clothes), and I saw these outfits on them - they are not part of THIS mod, are they? How was that accomplished? using the CBBE body and the CPC mod? That would mean I would still only be able to use them on my PC, correct?
*I've done so many play-throughs now, I am constantly looking for new ways to make the game interesting again. Hell... I might even try playing as a cat LOL.
vanilla children cannot wear anything that isnt made playable for them so it wouldnt work. you need to mod it so it lets them wear it. either by adding their race into the armor or give children the human armor race so they can wear every single piece of armor
Thank you for the mod! Can you explain, why it works, when you change the original armor addons to the child races and make a copy of the orignal for the adult races ? I did the same with an armor in FO4Edit and now it works, before this I created a copy of the armor addon and made the copy available for childs, but it was everytime the adult version. It is confusing to me, but your method works.
I was wondering the same thing some time ago, and I found it in another forum. I'm not sure if I can post the link here, so if anyone is interested in getting the link to the mod, PM me. This mod would allow children to wear tons of vanilla (and dlc) outfits, a great compliment to this headgear mod
Dose it work if you just want to dress the kid, and not play as a kid? I'm using the companion framework mod, and I recruited Meg from Bunker Hill. Should it still work If i put it on her?
This mod doesn't seems to be working for me with your custom playable children mod. I've tested with only custom playable children and this mod installed, and the hats show up about half way into my character's face.

Sorry for the pointless post.
