When making a new robot at the Robot Workbench, the construction of a basic Protectron is always required to act as the 'base'. Due to the way it's done, the creation of this Protectron will not draw from any surplus of Protectron parts the player may have, but instead will always require the following materials: 8 Adhesive, 11 Aluminum, 9 Ceramic, 6 Circuitry, 6 Rubber.
Curiously, this cost does not reflect the actual sum of its parts, which totals: 3 Adhesive, 5 Aluminum, 8 Ceramic, 3 Circuitry, 14 Rubber, 4 Screws, 14 Steel.
And should the player want to replace each and every piece of the Protectron with other robots parts, there is no way to refund this initial material cost.
This Mod offers three options. The first being an adjustment to the materials required to build the basic Protectron, to better reflect the sum of its parts. The second being a 154 caps fee on creating a new Robot, equal to the vendor value of the Protectron's parts, per Oddball_E8's suggestion. The third being a removal of all material costs needed to build the initial basic Protectron, because it's an annoying waste of resources.
NB - The only thing altered is the materials required to build the initial basic Protectron, so if you have an existing Sentry-bot that you wish to attach a Protectron Limb to, the standard material costs will apply.
