Welcome...
Non-Explosive Broadsider Cannon Balls
Announcement!
I was playing around with some stuff in the CK and somehow ended up back with this mod. While I was on this I realised the optional file for increased damage was still slightly low. I have updated the damage again giving the Broadsider a bit more punch to compensate for the massive loss.
Make sure to update if you haven't already, the weapon feels way better than it did. Cheers for all the endorsements and downloads, and have fun!
"What is this amazing invention?"
It's fairly... VERY simple. To explain and to create in fact. As we all probably know, the Broadsider uses rare Cannon Balls as ammo. Well, this mod solves two problems;
1. This RARE Broadsider ammo can now be picked up.
2. Because this same ammo does not explode on impact.
SIMPLE!
"How did you achieve this? You absolute genius!"
Oh, thanks! You didn't have to compliment me, really. Again, it's pretty simple to make. The only two files this mod changes is the Cannon Ball projectile file, or rather 'BroadsiderProjectile', and the Broadsider weapon file. It was as simple as changing a few bits and pieces in both files to balance it out. I am not too knowledgeable, so I went ahead and checked out the Modified Bowling Ball projectile file to get a better understanding of what I should do.
SIMPLE! Right?
"Why would you create this... MONSTROSITY!"
Muahahaha... First of all, the Broadsider was boring, and I was disappointed to see that the cannon balls cannot just slam limbs off raiders and instead explode. Now? Try it. I had lots of fun, even without fleshy enemies to shoot. PHYSICS! Second, the explosion effect had pretty close to no AoE... well actually, I don't think it had any at all. So now, instead of losing ammo entirely, you can pick the Cannon Balls right up. Besides, both types of cannon balls exist IRL. Explosive and Solid. Solid is just more fun. And since the Cannon Ball explosion was just a fart... a new mod was born...
"Wow, and do you have any other features for me?"
Yes! Yes indeed. Check out the files section as well as the change log for more details.
"Ok... what other mods do you recommend?"
Funny you should ask. I actually tested this along with the 'Live Dismemberment' mod by DeathclawAlpha. I could not ask for a better mix. Thanks Deathclaw! Amazing mod. Make sure to check it out if you haven't already!
There is another thing. People of the commonwealth (and Preston) need your help... to settle Mars! Yes, it finally happened! The commonwealth space program welcomes anybody with a Broadsider...
And unless you download the 'Realistic Ragdoll Force' mod by dDefinder and the Realistic version of this mod, they might even be able to fly right over to Uranus...
See what I did there? No? :(
This mod requires the Far Harbor DLC!
"Any bugs or compatibility issues I should know about?"
Hmm... Since this mod only tweaks two files, not really. Unless a mod changes the 'BroadsiderProjectile' file or the 'Broadsider' weapon file it should be fine. In case it does, make sure to place this mod lower in the load order. It shouldn't cause any side effects.
I didn't see many bugs. The only thing is that any enemies you shoot at with the Broadsider will scream "GRENADE!!!". Although, this isn't really any major problem. It even fits! It's a shame Bethesda didn't include voice files like "OH NOOOO! HE SHOT A CANNON BALL FROM THAT BROADSIDER OF HIS! IT IS HEADING TOWARDS MY VERY OWN HEAD!!!", no? If you do see any bugs though, feel free to post a report and I'll see what I can do. Although, no promises. As I said before, I am not too knowledgeable.
In other news, after much more testing I have found that if you load a game with the cannon balls not picked up, they can sometimes damage NPCs around you by flying around. This is probably caused due to bad collision meshes. Although, this will not happen often at all, it's actually extremely rare, and you can reduce the chance even more by picking the cannon balls after shooting them or just not shooting the broadsider around settlements! Usually it shouldn't happen. The only time I had this was in Sanctuary when I had about 20 cannon balls lying around. They only damaged Codsworth just slightly.
Another thing that some people might call a 'bug' is that the impact of a cannon ball projectile might send things flying (Only Unrealistic version of the mod). I call this 'crappy physics', but this was always a buggy topic. Although, yet again, it is very minor. Right now the Broadsider acts similar to how Skyrim's destruction magic did. If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about;
"Here, take a look at this! Some of the Jarl's men came by and left this bug report letter!"
To all magic types out there,
One shall not discharge a destruction magic spell towards any kind of non-static object!
Reports of strange flying objects around Skyrim have increased tremendously.
For the effects of said actions are dire, anyone suspected of such acts will be put to the block!

Go shoot a car with the broadsider if you have the Unrealistic version installed. You won't see it again most likely :P Well... you probably will. But you get the meaning.
"I'm so stunned by this, I don't even know what to do now!"
Install through NMM (ez) and have fun! Also, if you enjoy the mod, I wouldn't mind collecting a few endorsements. I know this is a small and a very simple mod, literally anyone could make this in an instant, but it's also my first completed mod and my first upload to the nexus! If you know someone who would enjoy the mod, I also wouldn't mind if more people download. So share if you can guys!
"Hey! I have a question about something!"
You can PM me if you want, no problem. I'm usually available and I check Nexus at least once a day!
"Why did you bother to write so much? It's such a very small mod!"
I like writing ;) Although, you are right. I just want to get everything clear so that nobody is confused. And really, I do not expect more than 100 unique downloads and 5 endorsements. Probably not even that. But who knoooows :o
Anyone who downloads is awesome, so thanks to anyone that does! If you endorse... then you endorsed, and you are even more awesome! Remember to post some comments as well, whether you like the mod or have a suggestion... JUST DO IT! Have fun everyone!
