Crafting requires various ratios of lead, steel, gunpowder, and for shells, plastic. Lead and gunpowder can be obtained from deconstructing unwanted rounds of other caliber (but not steel or plastic, because of necessary inefficiency). A gunpowder batch is crafted from 1 unit of acid and 2 units of wood, the nearest crafting recipe I could think of to that of homemade gunpowder (made from charcoal, sulfate, and Potassium/sodium nitrate -- thank you google). Each batch of gunpowder (found in the utilities section) produces 4 units of gunpowder, where each batch of bullets crafted (1 batch = 25 bullets) requires 1 unit of gunpowder--except shells, which require 2.
The largest calibers (.44, .45, .50) require--besides 1 gunpowder--2 lead and 2 steel (for the slug and casing, respectively). The medium calibers (10mm, .308, .38) require 1 lead and 2 steel. The smaller calibers (5mm, 5.56mm) require 1 lead and 1 steel. The shells require 2 lead, 1 steel and 1 plastic (then also 2 gunpowder) and railway spikes requrie 3 lead and 3 steel (and no gunpowder) for a batch of 15 (instead of 25).
An optional download allows hammers and wrenches to be broken down into 2 lead, rather than 1 steel.
No dlc support (yet).
I'm well aware of the numerous other ammo crafting downloads--none of them were quite what I wanted, however.
