Rain falling through your glass palace?

Need to fill those holes?

Doctor's bill from all that radiation is too expensive and insurance won't cover?

Well, fear no more! RainBeGone! is here!

With the power of magic unicorns, black voodoo and some FlexSeal, your glass objects will no longer have existential crisis and will actually start blocking that rain! (wow)

Also, little Jimmy over there can stop coughing up them rad-flu germs all around the settlement like there's no tomorrow.

You can even go submarine diving under the Glowing Sea now. He'll drive.

The Story:

Ever since I started playing the game, I felt cheated with the rain falling through my metal roofs and modded glass parts. Nowhere was I able to find a resolution that fixes the issue with transparent objects to actually force rain occlusion do its work properly. Forums and reddit kept saying it's a hardcoded engine bug that can't be fixed. Well, nothing is hardcoded in my book, so I went for a little demolition derby through NifSkope, xEdit and Material Editor to test my luck. After couple of days of randomly spamming different combinations of shaders, flags and loading the game for 174 times to check how my new roofs are holding everything, I've found the fix. I've also summoned a demon to help me out in all this, but that's not the point here.

In a nutshell, the solution has something to do with modifying NIF's BSTriShape instances, cloning vertically impacted segments of the mesh that are being affected by the the engine's dynamic rain occlusion and attaching a water reference shader property to a cloned instance of vertices along with BGEM world-emmitance lighting tweaking and surface effects alterations so it does not produce graphical havoc from alpha channel material blending of newly added cloned vertices.

Yeah.

The Mod:

RainBeGone! starts as an in-house fix for ccmads's glorious SOE. He gave me his blessing to try and fix the rain issue, so I've stepped in to help and get the things right. (Looking at you, Bethesda.) Huge shutout to him and credits for his astonishing work.

You will need his ALL DLC mod to experience the changes I've done to SOE's glass buildable elements and Wasteland Workshop DLC.
RainBeGone! overwriting it all in the left panel for that sweet rain cover.

Plans:

Gotta get 'em all! This is just the beginning for me and I'm focused on challenging game elements which stop creative people out there who'd just like to build nice things and have functioning glass cover in their settlements.

In the pipeline, I'm working on fixing the same bug in Concrete Walls with Window Glass from cartman1975 and base game's metal roofs and floors. That's all coming up sooner than you may think!
