About this mod
A couple of male boy presets for Custom Playable Children and LooksMenu
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
While I don't pretend to be very good at preset creation, I've nevertheless ended up with a pair of presets I felt worth saving, and decided to share.
These were made with Start Me Up in mind, and are outlined below. Of course, you don't have to abide by my visions for them if you do use them, but maybe they'll help get your own creative juices flowing.
Naturally, both these presets require Custom Playable Children. They also both require LooksMenu and the LooksMenu Customisation Compendium.
For best results, use A and D to switch to a child head, then load the preset.
You'll also notice that there is an odd texture difference around the hairline where the skin changes colour. Don't worry about this - it goes away once you use the console commands as per Abbalovesyou's instructions, specifically 'player.setrace hc'.
Important Notes:
In order to get the LMCC additions to remain on your kids faces after entering the above command, don't forget to get the LMCC - CPC patch in the Miscellaneous Files section of Custom Playable Children. If you don't do this, only vanilla-based burns, tattoos and scars will be present, and not even Doc Crocker will be able to restore the LMCC ones.
Recommended Mods:
Player Voice Frequency Slider (PVOS) - to get yourself a more appropriately youthful sounding voice. I usually go with 1.16 on the scale.
Shaun Youre Adopted - one of the side effects of playing a kid with CPC is that the facemorphs for Father/Shaun get weird - in particlar, Father has freakishly popped out eyes which is uh... disconcerting, to say the least. So I strongly recommend this so he actually looks like a human being again.
Red the Kid
Alternate Start: Another Vault 111 Resident
This does require some suspension of disbelief. The extra terminal entries Start Me Up add to explain why you and Nate ended up in each others pods after being frozen depends on the two looking alike, which is highly unlikely. However, it's the only way to play not-Nate (or Nora) and still have a Vault start.
Prewar, Red was not a particularly patriotic boy, and between going out the previous halloween dressed as a Red Chinese Soldier and insisting on dying his hair Red, the nickname stuck. Like the other residents of Sanctuary Hills he also ran for the vault, but his youthful energy meant he outran his parents - who didn't make it. Now he's woken up into a new world having lost everything.
I took him from there into being a Minuteman set on rebuilding the Commonwealth in order to make it feel like he was reclaiming a bit of the old world he left behind.
Extra note: Thanks for LarryHinkle, this preset also requires Diverse Children (and the corresponding CPC patch) in order to work - I used a head part made available by that mod, and didn't even realise. Not having this will cause a CtD. I'll try to remember to make a new Red preset that doesn't use it.
Blaise/Blaze (I changed name mid-play)
Alternate Start: Ex-Forged Member, started at Hugo's Hole as it was the closest to Saugus, and the raiders at Dunwich Borers are also Forged members even if they don't look like it. Read the terminal entries there and you'll see.
Blaze is not a pre-war kid, but a raider born and raised, and until recently a member of the Forged. He's a pyromaniac (and the reason for another recent mod I uploaded) that got tired of the small-scale thinking of the Forged after hearing about Nuka-World.
I didn't put too much thought into it after that. It's probably not the best RP reasons, but that was how he was played - setting the world on fire for one raider gang after another.
