So I've read it many times, Fallout 4 doesn't play nice with Freesync or G-SYNC, instead it has it's own buggy solution for V-Sync/Framerate limit that often results in stutters and decreased performance. In this guide I share how to enable Freesync in Fallout 4. I also added the text of this guide as a downloadable file, so If the guide helped you you can download it and endorse.
The guide is the following:
- First of all I assumme you use F4SE, it is only a hard requirement if you have want to play at higher framerates than 60fps. - You'll also need a Freesync compatible monitor (duh).
1. .ini file editing
Set Fallout.ini - iPresentInterval=1 to 0 Set Fallout4Prefs.ini - iPresentinterval=1 to 0
(this disables in-game V-SYNC and fps limit)
2. NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:
a) Program Settings - Max Frame Rate - your monitor's max refresh rate -1 (For me it is 74, if you have a 60Hz monitor it would be 59) - Monitor Technology - G-SYNC Compatible - Preferred refresh rate - Highest available - Triple buffering - Off - Vertical sync - On
b) Set up G-SYNC menu - Tick the "G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible" checkbox. - Select the "for windowed and full screen mode" setting. - Tick the "Enable settings for the selected display" checkbox.
[OPTIONAL] If your max framerate exceeds 60fps install High FPS Physics Fix by Antonix35
