About this mod

Do you want to get Curie as a follower but dread doing the entire "Hole in the Wall" quest chain. No more! Just open the plain for all to see door that have stood there like a sore thumb for 200+ years with my added Terminal, take elevator, talk to Curie, get cure, give cure (or don't) to Doctor Forsythe and quest is done. Curie can now join you.

The amazing follower Curie is gated behind the very slow moving "Hole in the Wall" quest that must be concluded before she can join the sole survivor. The quest can of course still be done the old fashioned way for anyone that are so inclined, but there is now an alternative much faster route:

  • When the solve survivor have gained access to Vault 81, talk to Gwen McNamara (the overseer of Vault 81)
  • look to the left (see the screenshot) and use the terminal to open the door
  • take the secret elevator that in turn brings you to Curie
  • Talk with her and get the cure
  • turn back and use the elevator again.
  • Now go and use the official Vault 81 elevator
  • run to Doctor Forsythe (while laughing)
  • save the game before talking to him (*)
  • let him bully you to give him the cure or stand up against injustice and keep it for yourself  (**)
  • The "Hole in the Wall" is now officially concluded
  • Curie is yours for the taking.

(*) Sometimes (even in the vanilla route) his AI does not kick in and he just sits on his ass instead of curing Austin. In most cases just "waiting" 5-10 seconds helps and the AI kick in, else load the save from earlier and give the cure again. However, the main reason why you save is because now you can enjoy a "secret ending" of the quest that many players miss. Use the cure on yourself and then tell Doctor Forsythe what you did. Next reload the save and refuse to giving him the cure. Depending on what ending you like best, reload and play it out all again.

(**) If you show some backbone and resist in giving Doctor Forsythe the cure you still get all the rewards i.e. the "good ending" with my critical quest tweaks.

  • Everyone knows of your bravery in entering the secret part of Vault 81
  • You get a free room in Vault 81
  • You get Doctor Forsythe unique Syringer Rifle
  • You get to keep/or use the cure on yourself (critical part)
  • You get the luxury of standing up to Doctor Forsythe and see what a shit he truly is.
  • When speaking to Doctor Forsythe in the future he is forced to brown-nose you (priceless)
  • Journal showing "FAILED: Give cure to Dr. Forsythe". (icing on the cake)

The moral of the story is, never in a game (or real-life) let other people persuade (or bully) you to abandon your own self-interests. It can at times be hard, but steel yourself and know that if the situation would be reversed the person (or people) would never do what now is asked of you, ever!
