About this mod
Changes which power armor type spawns at each location to be predefined for better immersion. Each model will spawn at any player level, where lore and balance friendly, with the quality of armor pieces depending on level and if the suit is intact.

According to lore the X-01 power armor should be extremely rare in the wasteland however once you hit level 28 it will start spawning all over Boston, and in some really silly places. This mod aims to fix this issue by pre-defining which armour spawns at each vanila location. Each spawn has been individually considered to make sense from a progression and immersion standpoint so that the player is unlikely to stumble across powerful armor early on but will be rewarded with it for going out of their way to explore dangerous locations. T-45 is the most common suit by far and can be found in most military locations. T-51 isn't too difficult to find as many suits were waiting to be shipped overseas when the bombs fell though they will be held under the tightest lock and key. T-60 is relatively rare as it was a brand new model, however suits can be found locked up at certain checkpoints. X-01 is a wasteland treasure and can only be found in very specific places. As such all rusty versions of power armor suits are no longer tied to level requirements. Every type of suit from T-45 to X-01 can be found at level 1 if you know where to look, with non rusty variants starting to appear at level 11 with T-45b.
Each model will only spawn up until a certain lining, after which the next leveled unlock will be lining b of the next model. This was done to attempt to keep spawns from being too overpowered and to be more lore friendly as T-45d and T-51b are mentioned by name in Fallout 3 and New Vegas making it a fair assumption that these were the most advanced pre-war linings applied to each suit before the bombs fell. While we do not have similar info for T-60 and X-01 I have limited T-60 at T-60c just to differentiate it from T-45 and T-51, X-01 however will never spawn above Mk.1 as it never made it past the prototype stage so mk.1 seems perfectly appropriate. Incomplete sets will always spawn with the lowest lining possible to explain why pieces have been destroyed over the years and why scavengers have written the armor off as rusted junk instead of taking it.
As of v1.2 all power armor cages have been adjusted to use a master level lock / terminal. This change has been made to make sure the player only has access to T-45 in the early game (unless they get lucky) rather than acquiring T-51 within a few hours of play. More advanced suits like T-60 and T-51 can still be seen in low level areas however the player will not be able to obtain them now for quite a few levels. Not all suits are locked away in cages and as such it will still be possible to obtain all models without perks invested in lockpick and hacking, although they will be much harder to find. I also made this change to give some justification for why perfectly good power armor has never been claimed by scavengers as the locks are just too strong for them. It doesn't explain why people wouldn't just cut through the steel mesh but a lot of Fallout can be criticized the same way.
Esp cleaning and general bug squashing credit goes to xyloritus for cleaning up this mod post launch
Optional Shops File
If you want to also remove X-01 power armor from the Atom Cats shop install the optional "shops" file. The idea of Trudy breaking into the most secure and dangerous military bases in the Commonwealth or travelling all the way to Raven Rock or the Oil Rig to desperately look for surviving suits has always seemed a little silly to me. So if you don't like her selling X-01 out of seemingly nowhere (especially with this mod installed) use this file. Be warned however that it will limit the total number of X-01 suits in the game to 1 quantum suit, 1 complete suit, and 1 incomplete frame.
Recommended Mods
Power Armor Stats Patch - T-60 while more rare is easier to obtain in this mod when found, so using this stat patch will increase the odds that the player won't end up just skipping T-51 entirely. [COMPATIBILITY PATCH REQUIRED AS FOUND HERE]
SKK Fast BOS (ArcJet triggers Prydwin) - Complimentary to the above mod this one will increase the chances that the BoS and their T-60 suits arrive before the player has already levelled high enough to unlock T-51 and bypass T-60 entirely.
Brotherhood Power Armor Overhaul - Pairs well with this mod to make sure T-60 is not abundantly common as soon as the BoS arrive in the commonwealth.
Tesla X01 and any other mod which adds unique power armor models - As the X-01 is now an almost one time find, any modded armor will settle in beside it seamlessly as unique loot, the tesla mod will make this experience even better as it will replace the only incomplete spawn for X-01.
No More Rusty Gunners Given that RPAS standardises the highest lining spawns for pre-war armor installing this mod will apply that same logic to the Gunners and ensure you only find rusty suits in places where they've been left unused and abandoned.
Conflicts
Power Armor Stats Patch - Both mods affect the leveled lists for T-51 and T-60 on ambient frames, as such a compatibility patch will need to be dowloaded from the optional files of that mod page which will restore the spawning methods in RPAS but with the progression changed to T-60b -> T-60c -> T-51b instead of T-51b -> T-60b -> T-60c.
To ensure this mod does not conflict with any mod which modifies vanilla power armour frames such as Midwest Power Armor Evolution, or Tesla X01 make sure Realistic Power Armor Spawns is placed before these mods in your load order. I've tested with both of these two mods and they've been perfectly fine, but if any spawns are missing or doubled up as a result of this mod please let me know.
Installation
Simply download and enable with Vortex/NMM or manually drop the esp file into your Fallout4/Data folder.
This mod works best on a new playthrough as power armor pieces already spawned prior to installing this mod will not be replaced.
If you encounter a frame spawned before this mod was installed, you can respawn it with the correct pieces by selecting it in the console and entering "recycleactor". This will change all pieces on the frame to what they should be, although the visual model won't update until you enter, or exchange inventory with, the frame.
Complete Sets
To make sure every playthrough is guaranteed to get one full set of each suit, there is at least one complete frame for each model of power armor in the Commonwealth. An example of each can be found below but does not list every complete set.
T-45 - Abandoned on the roof of the Museum of Freedom
T-51 - Kept in a locked shipping container behind the National Guard Training Yard
T-60 - Locked inside a cage behind South Boston Military Checkpoint
X-01 - Sealed inside a chamber in the ruins of 35 Court near Goodneighbor
