I may drop an optional v2.5 (that uses RobCo patcher for LLs for the current version) and (if MsVal is fine with it) provide an alternate version that uses that MCX's .300 Blackout as ammo.
OVERVIEW:
This plugin provides a dependency-free (that is not base game/DLC) .300 Blackout integration package for various weapons mods that needs it. Designed around a vanilla/BLD playthrough and/or even those that would like to use Armament/Caliber Complex but find making patches for each gun too tedious for them.
This mod does not do anything by itself other than allowing you to craft the cartridge yourself, just an addon that allows for users/modders to integrate a mag attachment at least to their rifle mods to allow .300 Blackout as option.
I also provide an example for the Subleader SIG MCX (why not ,right?!), as it is multi-caliber from the get-go and IRL you only need a barrel-change. I know there is one for it already, however you needed a weapon dependency for that. This is for those that wanted a realistic portrayal on the 9" inch or shorter barrels for it in their LO without any additional reqs.
Note for Better Locational Damage integration: If you are to ask me, you can get it to one-hit headshot BLD medium races or keep it in the same class as the 5.56/7.62x39 ones. It uses 7.62 projectile due to its IRL characteristics. I recommend nerfing the range too to reflect its IRL characteristics, once again, typically .60-.65 tops, just like VSS.
REQUIREMENTS:
-(CORE) Base game + Nuka World (due to the 7.62 base and it kind of uses its casing)
-(OPTIONAL) Subleader SIG MCX - for the example implementation
DA GOODIEZ:
-Standalone
-An example ESP with Subleader SIG MCX. OMOD additions only so no conflicts with Crucidox and Jed's addons (I use them myself)
IN-UNIVERSE/FICTIONAL LORE:
GRBN Dynamics (NYSE Index GRBN5), a Europe-based international subsidiary of AAC, has secretly designed a cartridge that would go with the AAC Honey Badger and a classified SIG Sauer (the company existed in-universe) adaptive rifle project as part of a secret US military program for special operations.
All finished development for by June 2077, however the rising social unrest worldwide and the strained logistics of the US Army means that while GRBN was given the contract for the said ammunition, its full deployment was put on hold indefinitely. It was meant to be unveiled publicly by GRBN during the BANG show on October 2077 when the bombs changed everything.
More than 200 years after the Great War ended, a group of stalkers in the The Zone came across an abandoned Monolith bunker that not only houses this very ammo, but also the 3 prototypes of the said SIG Sauer rifle project. Considering that the bizarre ammo and the schematics for the said rifle is all they needed, they decided to sell the prototypes and a couple of the now .300 Blackout ammunition to a mysterious stranger.
No one knows what happened to said stranger, except he/she was heard setting their tracks to Boston.
Additional notes: Since this is a very recent find (I'll put it as recent as 3 weeks before start of the game, lore-wise), no one is selling it for now and its currently craft-only.
INSTALLATION
-Put in Data folder if manually installing otherwise use your mod manager.
Where to find it:
-No, you don't. Craft it under Utility. Make sure you have the required materials.
LOAD ORDER:
*Base/DLC ESPs
*This mod
*Other mods
*Sample OMOD for MCX.esp
CONFLICTS:
Should not conflict with any TR/BLD or patches for both as this is just a mag addon.
FAQs:
1. Hey carnappe why not use just Caliber Complex + BLD patch?
-I used Weapons of Fate back in the day and it is okay-ish. The game from what I see isn't really designed for small-arms ballistic weapons to fire anything other than hitscan, as sniping long-range is not as fun as it is compared to games that are designed with projectiles in mind. The range dropoff and projectile speed for WOF at least is even worse than Wildlands and Breakpoint. Also for some reason (not sure on this) this screws with my SSD/HDD I/O.
2. Why a separate package when only a few weapon mods fire it?
-Some AR-15/M4 variants out there can switch out barrels IRL just like the MCX. Some may do IRL but may not include them at all for FO4. Also my personal reasons in FAQ #1.
3. Why a mag change and not a barrel change as well?
-I'm not an experienced modder at most so I hope someone can cover me there. Also presentation wise IMO, I think a slight barrel model change to accommodate some special purpose round may be too tedious for mod authors out there..........and IRL .300 Blackout can be slapped on a 5.56 mag (just change barrel IRL). Some mods of weapons that are IRL not even multi-caliber have mag options so........
Easier to "role-play" if said weapon is multi-caliber by design to begin with and leave it there. Other weapon mods with custom ammo does the same thing anyways :D
4. What are the 3 prototypes as described in the lore?
-Those are basically the uniques of the MCX mod. . Only relevant if you want to DL the sample. I'm not good at stories, yo :D
5. Does your MCX sample break BLD/TR?
-It does not conflict at all and I have like 220+ mods so you will be fine.
6. The other one has a mag .300 Blackout mod too. What is different from this?
-That one requires MK18 (not that there is anything wrong with it). Mine is built around anyone with a vanilla or at least a playthrough that is void of non-vanilla ammo a-la Caliber Complex (again, nothing wrong with them).
7. I can craft ammo but no gun to go with it. What do?
-Then you are in the right place to ask. The example integration for Subleader's SIG MCX allows users to put the ammo to good use. For addon integrators, now is your time to shine.
8. WTH carnappe, L5 basic mag only?
-My apologies for that. The MCX example is an addon for testing to see if my contraption works. It is created with Tactical Reload in mind however it works with or without it. Other mags/barrels/options can be included by popular demand if I can find the time.
FUTURE PLANS:
-Equipment and Crafting Overhaul Integration.
-Schematics as requirement (making it optional at least)
ADDITIONAL CREDITS:
SpongeBobSlavicPants for permission to use the ammo box mesh (from old ZENIT). Though I created (a sloppy attempt mind you) my own textures (diffuse and specular) for it for uniqueness's sake.
