2024 REMASTER VERSION

This mod still works, but I recommend using the new recreation from 2024.

I've been a fan of the Fallout Series for the longest time, so it only made sense to me. I love Vault-Tec, so I decided to go with that route - also considering that the lore is plentiful, while also ambiguous enough to allow for some creative leeway in terms of dialogue.

Who is he?

Martin is a junior Vault-Tec scientist (or so he says) who recently arrived in the Commonwealth.

What about his voice?

He is voiced by Martin Toms (surprise), a 23-year-old Czech guy. As of October 2022 there are roughly 760 voiced lines commenting on the world of Fallout 4.

Where is he?

Covenant, where else? The friendliest place in the Commonwealth!

Is there an affinity system for him?

Not yet. He loves you no matter what you do, much like Dogmeat.

What weapon does he use?

A trusty 10mm pistol, for now...

Does he function like a companion?

Yes! He can be dismissed to a settlement, commanded to stay, commanded in general, made to wear power armor, and even told to leave it. Of course he will voice his disapproval of leaving the power armor :D

For the sake of proper functioning of all dialogue I made him use the same scripts as vanilla companions, that means he is a primary companion and can't have other companions along (unless they use their own scripts like Heather Casdin).

What makes him S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?

He's just an ordinary guy who has a Vault-Tec library on his wrist and shooting accuracy comparable to a courser. Thanks to V.A.T.S. of course! Also, Martin comes wrapped in a Vault-Tec jumpsuit - a vault suit that has no number on it, as well as allows ballistic weave.

Are you at all familiar with programming? Are you able to maintain the mod?

I am and I am. I have a degree in computer science and work in the field. I'm a SW developer by trade.

Do you have plans for the future of this mod?

I do. Great plans... terrible plans, but great... wait, that's Harry Potter. But yeah, I have plans for it. They depend entirely on how well it's received and whether anyone actually likes the damn thing :D.

The following list of items are documented issues that are either being worked on, or ignored.

  • Voice volume may vary - this is due to the fact that I'm recording the voice lines on the fly at different times for now. This doesn't make sense to correct just yet, as I wish to add as many lines as possible before dealing with the fine-tuning.
  • Some subtitles may not match voice lines - actively worked on, please report any to [email protected], thanks :)
  • Idle dialogue isn't frequent enough to trigger all quest related idles at the right time - for now you may use his "THOUGHTS?" dialogue to listen to idle lines, will be fixed in the future
