I always wondered why there hasn't been a single tactical shield that actually works in this game, so decided to make one.
As you can see from the name, it is a framework.
You can make your own shield with it, in a form of weapon or even armor (WIP).
But you guys need proof. It has to be visual to be appealing.
So I've included a sample riot shield with a full set of custom animation covering both 1st person and 3rd person (PA, Super Mutant not included).
Winter23pzd has done awesome work in porting the mesh and 1st person animations from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)
Also thanks to Broodahood for the wonderful grenade/mine throw animation.
And this is our main dish. The in-game showcase of the shield.
It's not a dirty "block all damage incoming from n degrees" kind of hack.
The shield has fully working collision objects attached on it, divided into two parts: metal and glass.
Everything is customizable from damage threshold, image space adapter that gets applied when you get hit, camera shakes, material type (impact effects), and even the interaction between the attacker and victim through spells.
I'm working on a guide that includes the detail on how to apply it and hopefully it should be released in a few days.
It's getting delayed because I'm working hard at the moment to make it work with armors as well, so there's less pressure to make new animations.
Hope you enjoy it.
