About this mod
Replaces a painting and places a Holotape with text for a little bit of immersion regarding the Institute and it's ideology and politics.

This mod contains 2 small archives and an ESP that's flagged as ESL. You have a limit of 4096 ESL files, if I'm not mistaken.
This mod is really small. Do not expect a total overhaul of the Institutes design or something like that.
Premise:
During my playthroughs, I usually want to turn the Institute into a force for good. I came up with a reason why the Institute should reveal its existence and why it could be beneficial for both the Institute and the Commonwealth. I dislike how one-dimensional most of the characters and even factions are. So I picked one character and made him into a vessel for my own theories.
The idea of the Institute as an (literally) underground organization that infiltrates and influences the Commonwealth is really interesting, but the longer you think about it, the less sense its specific attributes make. What do they want? Why do they use synths at all? I have no idea. And many other players don't have an idea as well. And I think, even some characters in the game who know how the Institute functions would question what they are doing.
The theorist of the Technocracy:
When entering the BioScience section of the Institute, Isaac Karlin talks to Clayton Holdren. He says things like: "After all, how can we hope to redefine mankind if we can't even hold on to our own humanity?" and "They're still people, and they're suffering. We can at least admit that it's regrettable." That's enough reason for me to choose Isaac Karlin as the person who might come up with the Technocracy and the reforms it's demanding.
The Flag:
Above Karlins bed, there is an abstract painting. These are ugly, and because of my latest mod (New Flags), I thought it would be cool to actually implement flags I made for personal use into the world. I scrolled through the subreddit r/Vexillology and found an interesting design for a science-based country. I can't find the original post, otherwise I would've linked it for credits. I made most of the flags for personal use and uploaded my flag mod mostly as a tool for other users to add flags as fast as possible, so I didn't think about keeping records of from where exactly I got the designs I am using in my own game.
The Holotape:
Next to Karlins bed, there's a new holotape with an unique texture. I imagine it would be fitting to place it there. I do the same with important notes myself.
Content of the holotape / the ideology of the Technocracy:
1.: Introduction
2.: The state of America
(3.: Digression - Natural selection of cultures in the wasteland)
4.: The current role of the Institute
5.: Thesis - Our slaves make us unfree
6.: Proposed solution - suppression of the surface
7.: Proposed solution - symbiosis with the surface
8.: The danger of doing nothing
9.: The obstacle
10.: Closing words
The Institute has the power to dominate the Commonwealth because of its technology. It is even vital for the Institute to do so. It can achieve this either in the form of dictatorship or in the form of benevolent overlordship. Dictatorship would be fairly stable, but symbiosis with the Commonwealth is even more stable and preferable to dictatorship. At the end I address the obstacle, and the paper ends with a small appeal to the people to whom the holotape is addressed (other institute members). The Technocracy itself is the proposed name of the state that the Institute would form.
These observations and theories are not world-shattering, but I'm quite satisfied with the new perspective they add to the Institute faction. My intention with this mod is to motivate you to consider siding with the Institute and to turn it into a power for good (or an oppressive dictatorship, dependig on your current character).
Feel free to critique my ideas in the comments section. Keep in mind that I do not necessarilly support all the opinions in this holotape. Some statements are supposed to be a little bit weird, because we are talking about a society that is one nuclear war and 265 years apart from our own moral compass (or you could argue that we are 340 years apart from the Fallout world because our worlds diverge somewhere around 1945).
Regarding Copyright:
The flag design is not made by me and I didn't ask for permission. If you, as the original creator of that flag, have a problem with my mod, feel free to contact me through the comments section and I will update the mod via replacing the flag and holotape textures with a (probably worse) design I will make myself. Or if you know the source, please tell me so that I can link it.
Enjoy and have a nice day.
