Commonwealth Cash is a complete overhaul of the currency system, it never made sense to me why we would be using caps on the east coast, so I have made this mod to help fix that. The coins are pre-war salvage, who knows what they were, possibly quarters at one time but all discernible identifiers are gone. Coins represent one penny or one cent.
The inherent limit to currency of approximately 3.2m~ still persists!
Do not transfer/own more than 3.2m~ coins or you will be subject to massive duplication or loss of coins, or "ghost" coins persisting in your inventory and continuing to count for weight. Always make sure to dump your coins into a Money manager whenever you are starting to get close to over encumbered or 1 million coins!
What does this mod do?
- Changes the name of caps to "coins" - seamlessly changes it and shouldn't break anything if you switch midgame, just the name was changed.
- Makes coins a physical item that can be moved out of the inventory and into containers/npcs or dropped.
- Coins have had their graphical model updated to a prewar salvaged coin.
- Coins weigh 0.0003 per coin, adding a somewhat realistic weight to coins. This is 300 pounds per 1m coins, it’s not super realistic to the weight of coins but it’s sufficient to remind you to empty the coins out of your inventory when you are getting over encumbered.
- Adds a "Money manager" (under power -> contraptions -> machines) that allows you to print out dollar bonds (bills) that require 100x the number of coins to produce (i.e: $50 bond requires 5000 coins, $100 bond 10000 coins etc...)
- You can make $50, $100, $1000 and $5000 bonds (5000, 10000, 100000, 500000 coins respectively)
- The bonds only weigh 0.1 per stack of bills because paper is light.
- You can make a $10k gold ingot, the gold ingot requires 1 million coins to produce and is intended to be the resource to back up these new bonds.
- The new ingots weigh 6.85 pounds (100 ounces) and are intended to just be around to back up the currency or for very rich players to sink money out of their game.
- The bonds and ingots are prefixed with [Money] and are in the aid tab and can be consumed to acquire the equivalent value of coins, note you cannot go over the 3.2m~ limit though!
- All of the currencies require components besides just the coins to produce the corresponding item.
- Bonds require 1 cloth and 1 plastic
- The gold ingot requires 25 workshop gold "junk" which can be scrapped from gold items or bought in a shipment of 25 from Deb in bunker hill, remember to unpack the shipment before trying to use!
- Coins now weigh 0.0003 (70% less than before) because having even a couple hundred thousand is easy to get over encumbered.
- Added a new Money printer machine which can be used to print out currency at 10x rate by converting lower tier currency into the higher tiers.
- The new money printer allows you to trade bonds directly for gold at 10x rate.
