About this mod

Deadeye is a headshot mod that lets you choose from different ways to take down your enemies. A quick one-shot kill or add some challenge with helmet protection, which protects both you and your foes. If that's not your style, you can opt for head destruction – you'll need to lower the enemy's head health to zero to deliver a devastating headshot

What does this mod do?

Deadeye is a headshot mod, with different options of headshots. It affects NPCs and the Player.
There are two different types of headshot, the normal head and head destruction.
A headshot depends on various factors: Weapon, Ammo, Race
Head destruction is different from normal headshots. You'll need to lower the enemy's head health to zero to deliver a devastating headshot afterwards. A dismember effect is also available for head destruction, to finish off enemies with style.

Headshot - Single Hit
Different types of enemies, require different types of ammos and weapons. Enemies are grouped by their race. A single headshot is enough to kill, once the requirements are met. This option can be enabled separately for Ballistic and Energy weapons.

Head Destruction - Multiple Hits
This option requires you to hit the head of your enemy multiple times, before you can deal a deadly headshot. Once the head health reaches zero, your next shot will be a devastating and deadly shot. A dismember effect is enabled by default. The dismember effect depends, if the race can be dismembered and if the weapon is able to do that.

Race Categories
Powerful races can not be killed by head destruction or headshot, this can be changed with the ini file. If powerful races are enabled for headshot, ammo types from the Strong Group can kill them in one shot.

Weak - Can be headshot by mostly anything
Bloatfly, Bloodbug, Dog, Feral Ghoul, Ghoul, Gorilla(Nuka-World), Human, Molerat, Rad-Ant(Nuka-World), Rad-Chicken(Far Harbor), Radrabbit(Far Harbor), Rad-Rat(Nuka-World), Radroach, Radstag, Stingwing

Moderate - Can be headshot by Shotguns from close range and ammos from the moderate group
Alien, Brahmin, Bloodworm(Nuka-World), Cave Cricket(Nuka-World), Feral Ghoul Glowing, Fev Hound(Super Mutant Dog), Mirelurk, Small Gulper(Far Harbor), Super Mutant

Strong -  Can be headshot by ammos from the strong group
Angler(Far Harbor), Fog Crawler(Far Harbor), Gulper(Far Harbor), Mirelurk Hunter, Mirelurk King, Radscorpion, Yao Guai

Powerful - By default can't be killed by a headshot or head destruction
Deathclaw, Gatorclaw(Far Harbor), Hermit Crab(Far Harbor), Mirelurk Queen, Super Mutant Behemoth

Robot - Can only be headshot by energy weapons, by head destruction.
Courser, Robot, Synth, Turret

Races that wear a helmet, will upgrade them to the next tier. A weak race with a helmet will be moved to the moderate group. A moderate race with a helmet will be moved to the strong group.

Weapon Type Ballistic (By Default: Headshot)
This will affect all weapons, that have the WeaponTypeBallistic keyword.
Ammos that should be able to kill specific races are grouped into 2 categories.
All other ammos can only headshot races that belong to the weak group

Ammo group setup for ballistic weapons by default:

Moderate (able to kill moderate races or below)
.308 Round
.44 Round
.45-70 Round
Cannonball
Railway Spike

Strong (able to kill strong races or below)
.50 Round
2mm Electromagnetic Cartridge
Harpoon

Weapon Type Shotgun
Shotguns are special. They are powerful at close range.
A Shotgun can headshot a weak race without a helmet up to a distance of 800(medium range).
If the the race is in the weak category and is wearing a helmet or is a moderate race without a helmet, you can headshot them from a distance of 330(close range).

Weapon Type Gauss (By Default: Enabled)
Gauss are ballistic weapons with a twist. They are the only ballistic weapon, which are able to head destruct a robot. They have a high raw power thus are able to blow robots to pieces.

Weapon Type Energy (By Default: Headshot & Head Destruction)
This will effect all weapons that have the keyword WeaponTypeLaser or WeaponTypePlasma.
By default, energy and plasma weapons can only headshot a race from the weak group with one hit.
Enemies higher than that, can only be killed by head destruction. Head destruction for energy weapons is enabled by default.

Ammo group setup for energy weapons by default:

Moderate (able to kill moderate races or below)
None

Strong (able to kill strong races or below)
None

Energy weapons are also able to head destruct Courser, Robots and Synths

Dismember
Headshots with laser weapons will always trigger the dismember effect.
Ballistic weapons that hit a target from the weak race, with ammo from the Strong Group are able to trigger the dismember effect on a headshot. Shotguns are also able to trigger the dismember effect, when being close to the target.

Head destruction will always trigger this effect.

If you don't like the dismember effect, you can disable it in the ini file.

Helmet Protection (By Default: Enabled)
Helmets can prevent headshots, when enabled. But not all Helmets can prevent headshots.
Only helmets with a Damage Resistance Rating of 7 can prevent headshots by ballistic ammos that are not in the Moderate or Strong Group.
To prevent headshots by laser or plasma weapons, you need a Energy Resistance Rating of 7 on your helmet.

Those values can be adjusted in the Deadeye.ini

iHelmetProtection=1                ; enables or disabled helmet protection
iHelmetThresholdEnergy=7
iHelmetThresholdRating=7

VATS (By Default: Enabled)
This feature requires headshots to be enabled
Make VATS useful again! Deadeye implements a feature for VATS. Critical shots with VATS can headshot a race from one group higher(depending on your ammo group).

Example:
A 10mm round(weak) can headshot a super mutant(moderate) without helmet or a human(moderate) with helmet.
A .308(moderate) can headshot a super mutant with helmet(strong) or a Yao Guai(Strong).

Compatibility
In general this mod is compatible with all mods out there! If you use new ammo types, you have to add ammos that should be able to kill specific races with one shot, to the correct FormLists. You can use RobCo Patcher to make it work without compatibility issues.

A patch for Munitions - Ammo Expansion Project including Munitions - Additional Ammo is available.
It can also be used as template for other patches.

Gauss Headshot

Laser Head Destruction - Synth

Known from Skyrim and other games, many vendors are restricted. You can't

currency. This mod applies several restrictions to several NPCs. For
example, a doctor can only buy and sell chem related items. But there
are still some stores, where you can dump everything.
